NAACP to Black athletes: Don't play for a Florida school until they bring back DEI Programs
The NAACP has a message to students with a certain skin color: Don’t bother applying for colleges in Florida because you are not smart enough due to the color of your skin.
I don’t condone that message. But it appears that the NAACP does as they have just suggested that black students should not apply for schools in the State of Florida due to the elimination of DEI. But that form of logic only makes sense if the organization believes that black students are not smart enough to make it on their own. Which is asinine but don't expect much more than a lack of common sense from these people.
The NAACP asked Black student-athletes to reconsider their decisions to attend public colleges and universities in the state of Florida, in response to the University of Florida and other state schools recently eliminating their diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
In a letter sent to NCAA president Charlie Baker and addressed to current and prospective student-athletes Monday, NAACP president and CEO Derrick Johnson wrote, "This is not about politics. It's about the protection of our community, the progression of our culture, and most of all, it's about your education, and your future."
Last year, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill that prohibits the use of state funds for any DEI programs. As a result, the University of Florida announced on March 1 it had closed the Office of the Chief Diversity Officer, eliminated 13 full-time DEI positions and 15 administrative appointments and halted DEI-focused contracts with outside vendors.
In a statement, NAACP president and CEO Derrick Johnson said, "Diversity, equity, and inclusion are paramount to ensuring equitable and effective educational outcomes. The value Black and other college athletes bring to large universities is unmatched. If these institutions are unable to completely invest in those athletes, it's time they take their talents elsewhere."
And that is what we call the “soft bigotry of low expectations."
If affirmative action is the only way the NAACP president believes that black students will be able to attend universities in Florida - that is the most racist thing I have ever heard. But these people seem to truly believe that as long as it is in the name of equity, that's all that matters.
Did they learn anything from the SCOTUS/Harvard scandal? Well, I guess we all know the answer to that.
I don't have to tell you why it is wrong to give someone special treatment for no reason other than the color of their skin. But the NAACP thinks this is perfectly acceptable rather than racist bigotry. And the most ironic part about all of this is that they are acting as if the State of Florida did something wrong. That is how naive these people are.
But at least the NAACP did everything they could to virtue signal their pathetic ideology to the woke masses. I guess anything for equity, right?
