Watch: Multicultural Immigration Has No Place in America & Must Be Stopped
How has immigration changed in America over the past 200 years? Today’s show breaks down why illegal aliens are nothing like immigrants in the past.
"The biggest difference is pre-welfare state vs post-welfare state," Crowder said. “Today they come here with the promise of everything.”
People used to come here with no promise of anything but the “land of opportunity.”
“Back in the day, people came here to risk--to be entrepreneurs. Today, they come to take. [This is] a very different dynamic.”
Additionally, Americans used to share many things in common with immigrants, including language, religion, technology, the rule of law, history, and cultural norms. However, this is not the case today.
So, while the French and Italian may have some cultural differences, it’s not accurate to assume that these two groups “came from different planets.”
"Previous generations of immigrants were seeking to take part in American identity," Crowder said. “Rather than a melting pot, we are looking at multiculturalism.”
According to Science Direct, “Multiculturalism is defined as the acceptance of different cultures in a society and the active support of these cultural differences by both the majority and minority group members. It encompasses demographics, policies, and attitudes related to cultural diversity within a society.”
"Today's immigrants [are] unbelievably varied in origin. [This means] we cannot possibly be unified and today's diversity cannot possibly be our strength," Crowder said. “To say that people coming from places like the Middle East, Asia, El Salvador, Syria, and China, that this is even remotely comparable to an Irishman coming here in the 1920s, you are being intentionally dishonest.”
This has nothing to do with race, despite what the left claims.
“It does have to do with nationality,” Crowder said. “I am saying there is nothing in common and a society can’t work.”
Before 1980, immigrants' proficiency in English was nearly double what it is today.
"We went from 58% of high school graduates who spoke English as immigrants to just 25% today," Crowder said. "That’s a clear sign of a lack of respect and appreciation."
