Minnesota AG announces lawsuit against victims of crime, claims victims aren't doing enough to combat it
I live in a suburb outside of a high-crime progressive city. Voters around these here parts turned out in massive numbers to elect a new district attorney because we saw what the progressive city was turning into and decided we didn't like it. I'm not quite sure what Minnesota is going to do now that their state Attorney General is suing VICTIMS of crime. They'll probably continue to not understand what "the consequences of their voting" means.
Keith Ellison, the former Democratic congressman, who was accused of beating the crap out of his girlfriend but got elected Attorney General anyway, announced that he was suing two businesses that, per his office, were not doing enough to combat gun crime happening outside of their businesses.
Merwin Liquors and Winner Gas Station in Minneapolis are accused of "maintaining or permitting an unlawful public nuisance on their properties" where both locations "have been the sites of numerous acts of gun violence." Yes, both the liquor store and the gas station are accused of letting gun violence happen from outside their property.
This is the same Minneapolis out of which the Defund the Police movement was birthed. Where activists celebrate attempted murderers, where it's viewed as adorable when little kids curse out cops, and where people who voted to defund the police are now crowdsourcing money for security. That Minneapolis.
If liberals weren't so easily manipulated by social issues to vote against their self-interests, these words from their top cop should be terrifying:
I’m using the power of my office to take new approaches [...] we are applying the law in ways it’s not commonly been applied before to solve persistent problems and keep people safe. Companies or properties that turn a blind eye to threats to public safety happening on their premises need to know we are watching and will act.
Looks like you're on your own, Minnesota. Best of luck.
To everyone living outside of Minnesota, there is an election coming up. On your ballot, you will find people running for office who share ideology with people like Keith Ellison. Vote for the other person.
