Hispanic GOP Congresswoman Gets Last Laugh After Democrat Opponent Busted Paying for 'Racist' Blog Posts
Mayra Flores shocked everyone becomes the first Republican to win a congressional seat in the Rio Grande in over 100 years. Democrats can't figure out what to do. Nancy Pelosi threw an elbow at Flores' young daughter, allegedly. Flores' Democrat opponent, Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, paid a blogger for advertising. And while "The McHale Report blog" didn't advertise yet, they did call Flores "Miss Frijoles" 21 times, and called her a "cotton-picking" liar. His rhetoric is being called bigoted.
You would think so close to Hashtag Tacogate, Democrats would have educated themselves against referring to Hispanics as delicious plates of food. In a related story, Democrats don't understand why they are losing the Hispanic vote.
Rep. Flores is laughing the attack off.
My far left opponent, Vincent Gonzalez, hired a local blogger to run hateful & racist ads against me!
But, I love frijoles & I grew up eating frijoles. I am not embarrassed of my upbringings & frijoles w/tortillas de harina is simply the best. Here's to Miss Frijoles 2022 #TX34pic.twitter.com/7z5SRGCfUv

Rep. Gonzalez's campaign responded to NBC via text message--not even an official statement--that “of course, the congressman is against referring to Rep. Flores as ‘Miss Frijoles’ or a ‘cotton-picking liar’." However, this isn't the first time Rep. Gonzalez has been accused of using racially insensitive language “I wasn’t born in Mexico… I didn’t come here through chain migration, I didn’t come through asylum or amnesty or whatever.” If a conservative echoed such comments, their blog would be throttled on Meta.
The congressman chose to work with a blogger whose blog, according to NBC News, "is full of posts with racist, crude and bigoted language, like the use of the N-word and derogatory references to women's private parts, including Flores’ body." But the congressman's campaign denies that the congressman agrees with such rhetoric.
Democrats are currently tied with Republicans among Hispanic voters on the generic congressional ballot. Four years ago, Democrats had a 47-point edge.
