Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has an abysmal approval rating, at best. While he is far too arrogant to admit his progressive ideology has done nothing to make residents better off, the numbers don't lie. This is why it is both cringe and inappropriate for him to make light of his failing record by announcing his pathetic reelection campaign while he dances for TikTokers as if he were not mayor, when the city has seen an average of 36 people shot per week while he was in charge.

From Jan. through Aug., 1,264 people have been shot in Chicago. You would think that the mayor would at least pretend to care, but clearly, all he is concerned about is staying relevant, while he continues to contribute to the destruction of one of America’s major cities.

According to ABC 7:

Mayor Brandon Johnson formally launched his reelection campaign Sunday, ending months of uncertainty about whether he would seek a second term and setting up a competitive race that will put his record under scrutiny.

Johnson told supporters at an outdoor rally on the DuSable Museum campus that Chicago is "a better, stronger and safer city" than when he took office in 2023. He highlighted a steep drop in homicides and shootings, along with investments in violence prevention, youth jobs, mental health clinic reopenings and environmental protections.

He did not address this weekend's mass shooting in Humboldt Park.

Of course, he did not address the shooting that occurred over the weekend. Again, for him to do that, he would have to pretend to care, but clearly, that is not much of a concern for one of America’s most progressive and racist mayors.

What a disgrace. Residents deserve far better. Let’s just hope they realize that at the ballot box.
