GOP Senator Stands Up To Fight Teamster Boss DURING HEARING In Insane Video: "You want to run your mouth..."
We had a wild day in Congress after we argued about who bumped into whom in the hallway over an elbow accusation. If you thought that was a breach of decorum, wait until you hear about this.
Look, when someone says “any time” and “any place,” you would think that means any time and any place. But of course, we can't expect Teamsters President Sean O'Brien to put his money where his mouth is.
A physical altercation almost broke out at a Senate committee hearing as GOP Sen. Markwayne Mullin stood up and almost fought O'Brien, who has been trash-talking the GOP lawmaker for several months on social media.
Watch as Sen. Bernie Sanders was forced to keep the peace between the two.
We have covered O'Brien and Mullin’s history of bickering before. Click here for more info. But just some background, the two went at it in March at another hearing over O'Brien's salary compared to that of his union members. Sanders intervened in that argument as well.
Mullin began by reading off a series of tweets from O’Brien, who challenged him to a fight earlier this year.
"Sir, this is a time, this is a place. You want to run your mouth, we can be two consenting adults and we can finish it here," Mullin told O'Brien during today's hearing after reading a tweet in which O'Brien said he could take the former MMA fighter "any time" or "any place."
"OK, that's fine, perfect," O'Brien responded.
"You want to do it now?" Mullin asked.
"I would love to do it right now," O'Brien said.
"Well, stand your butt up then,” Mullin shot back.
"You stand your butt up, big guy," O'Brien said.
Mullin stood up from his chair and was adamant about getting to where O'Brien was sitting.
"Stop it, hold it, no, no, sit down," scolded Sanders. "You're a United States senator. Sit down."
In case it was not clear, O’Brien had said this was what he wanted, but Sanders just wasn’t having it.
Although the self-described Democratic Socialist appointed himself as the referee and put an end to the fight, the verbal altercation continued.
"You challenged me to a cage match, acting like a 12-year-old," O'Brien said.
"We're not here to talk about physical abuse," Sanders said.
Mullin then pointed a finger at O'Brien and called him a "thug," which caused O'Brien to call Mullin "disrespectful."
The two kept at it, causing Sanders to interject once again.
"Hold it," Sanders said. "This is a hearing to discuss economic issues … we're not here to talk about fights or anything else."
The hostilities continued, despite the pleas from Sanders, until the hearing eventually moved on, according to Fox News.
Anyway, we await the day O'Brien's tough guy talk comes to fruition. Until then, we will have to settle for elbow ethics complaints.
