Macy Gray found herself embroiled in the culture wars. Her crime was making a common-sense statement about sex and gender. For that, political activists lashed out as they are known to do when you say anything with which they might disagree. There was a question on if she was going to apologize and claim she was going to further "educate" herself as others are often bullied into doing. Instead, she's telling the haters to go f*ck themselves.

"All of you coming on my page, threatening me and calling me names -- just because I said something you don't agree with -- be whatever you wanna be, and f*ck off."

Not sure what the exact threats were. But we've seen similar instances where progressive political activists threatened to kill people who expressed opinions with which they disagree or who shared activists' opinions verbatim.

Gray's offending comment came during an interview with Piers Morgan. One was saying "Just because you go change your parts doesn’t make you a woman." The other was, after saying, "if you want me to call you a ‘her,’ I will because that’s what you want," stating it still doesn't make you a woman.

In Gray's defense, she didn't make an attempt to reason with her attackers.

But she discovered that there is no reasoning with the outrage mob. You are entitled to their opinion and nothing less.

Good for Macy for standing her ground. More artists need to have the courage to do so.
