There are many reasons Uber is more popular than Lyft with both drivers and riders, but in case you need ANOTHER reason to pick Uber over Lyft, Lyft is introducing a new feature that lets women and non-binary riders choose a preference to match with drivers of the same gender.

“We’re woke. Our community is woke, and the U.S. population is woke,” Lyft President John Zimmer told Time in 2017.

Well, that is pretty obvious.

It goes without saying that this new feature is sexist against men, unless you are a nonbinary man of course. Apparently, this was a “highly requested feature." And this gives women and nonbinary people “the opportunity to earn money on their terms.”

“Just for your own peace of mind, the ability to choose a woman driver might be exactly the thing that allows you to say, you know what, yeah, this really is making my life better,” Lyft CEO David Risher told NBC’s Savannah Sellers.

In 2017, Lyft decided to brand itself as the progressive alternative to Uber by pledging a $1 million donation to the ACLU and pledging it is committed to “doing things for the right reasons.”

Lyft literally operates under the same model as Uber. Its drivers are denied all the protections and benefits that workers receive under other circumstances.

Don’t get me wrong, independent contractors are great for both workers and employers, especially for people who want to make their own hours and things like that. But don’t go around and pretend you are so much better than Uber when you are exactly the same thing, except MORE WOKE.

The company maximizes its profit by suppressing labor costs and taxes. That is as capitalist as you can get. But they want you to believe they are so much better than Uber.

Again, I love capitalism and think everyone should maximize their profits and fight for lower taxes and less regulation, but don’t tout yourself as the progressive alternative when these are nothing more than publicity stunts.

Now if Lyft really wanted to maximize profits, it would take some lessons from Uber.

While Lyft is adding a feature to appease to nonbinary folks, Uber is introducing Uber Teen, a new service that allows teens to order a ride from an account connected to their parent account.

That is something that will actually help women. A busy mom may sometimes have to juggle many tasks at once, driving all over the place and picking up kids from different locations. This new feature will help moms out who struggle from having to drop or pick up their kids all at the same time.

Not only will it help moms, Uber and drivers will earn more profit this way by expanding its ridership.

It makes sense that both Uber and its Driver exceed profits when compared to Lyft.

So while Lyft jumps on the progressive bandwagon, Uber is doing big boy stuff and actually maximizing its profit.
