Listen: KC mayor blasts MO Governor, accuses him of "dog whistle" for calling thugs who shot up Super Bowl parade "thugs"
According to Dictionary.com, a “thug” is “a violent, lawless, or vicious person, especially one who commits a crime such as assault, robbery, or murder.” Nowhere in that definition does it mention race. Subsequently, anyone with a fraction of a brain would know that the word thug is not racist.
But Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas does not have a brain. Because he accused Missouri Gov. Mike Parson of using a racial “dog whistle” when he called the suspected shooters at the Super Bowl “thugs.”
But in reality, this makes Lucas the racist one considering he is now equating a thug with a certain race. And unlike Lucas, everyone reading this knows that race has nothing to do with whether or not someone is a “violent” and “lawless” person. And to think otherwise is the most racist thing one can do.
According to The New York Post:
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas accused Missouri Gov. Mike Parson of using a racial “dog whistle” when referring to the suspected shooters at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade as “thugs.”
Lucas made the comment during an appearance on local radio show “Up to Date” on Friday.
He told KCUR host Steve Kraske that he has seen similar incidents of alleged racism “time and again.”
Following the shooting, Parson had said, “We can’t let some thugs just take over and ruin what happened.”
“I have respect for the governor. We get along well,” Lucas told Kraske. “I disagree strongly with how he would describe that situation. I certainly do think this was criminal activity. It was lawlessness, and I think that that’s troubling. But ‘thugs’ is a dog whistle in the most classic sense.”
“I’ve seen this dog whistle time and again. There’s this kind of giant conservative theory on social media now that the reason these mug shots haven’t been shown is because the purported defendants are black, and if it were a white defendant we would have just shown them. That is absolutely preposterous. There are protections to juveniles,” he added.
I would genuinely love to know what an appropriate term for these psycho-shooters would be.
Apparently “thugs” is too mean to refer to individuals who took someone's life for absolutely no reason. What adjective shall the public use when referring to the suspects since “thug” is too mean?
We know that progressives would love for the shooters to be “MAGA extremists” but that is not the case. The truth hurts.
To take offense because someone called two suspected murderers “thugs” is the most asinine thing I have ever heard. But progressives care about one thing and one thing only - and that is being politically correct. Not morally correct. Not factually correct. But politically correct.
The definition for the word “dog whistle” is “a subtly aimed political message which is intended for, and can only be understood by, a particular group.” The message of calling someone a “thug” is in fact to be understood to be directed to the particular group known as “criminals.” So again, what is the problem here? Are we supposed to feel sympathy for anyone who takes offense to the word “thug"?” Because any individual who feels attacked by that is likely not what you would call an “upstanding citizen.”
And again, anyone who believes calling someone a thug has anything to do with race is by definition, racist.
The THUGS who shot innocent bystanders and committed this evil act have most definitely earned that title, to say the very least. And anyone who is offended by that is so incredibly stupid that it should be illegal for them to hold office.
That said, it's disgusting that anyone would even be remotely concerned with the feelings of the shooters when their evil actions resulted in serious injuries and the loss of life. But that is a perfect example of progressive priorities, isn't it?
