Karine Jean-Pierre quits the Democrat party, but not without dropping one last book that no one read

It’s a tale as old as time. Much like that meeting should have been an email that I only just skimmed through, Karine Jean-Pierre’s book Independent should have been an one-and-a-half page article for National Review or Vox or The New Yorker that got lost in the post-election shuffle.
But, no.
The first black lesbian person to ever do something or other had to be trotted out on every Leftist media outlet like The View. CBS Mornings. The Late Show. PBS NewsHour. NPR. The Weekend: Primetime. The Bulwark.
To name a few.
And, of course, the phrase constantly repeated on these shows (and numerous times throughout the book itself) was that she was the first black lesbian to hold the position of White House Press Secretary.
Sure.
Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines supposedly takes a look at Trump’s current presidency through the eyes of a former insider…I don’t know why Karine Jean-Pierre made that claim. The book came out in October of 2025. There was not enough time for any kind of deep analysis of the current administration from anyone, save someone currently serving in it. Even then, to get a book published by October, it would have to be finished well before the summer and Trump’s second term has barely…
You know what, none of this matters.
Independent is why Karine Jean-Pierre claims she’s leaving (has left?) the Democrat party and is now an independent.

Reading this so shortly after having read Kamala Harris’ 107 Days does give you some insight into Biden’s broken White House, but it’s not that much. You see, the main reason KJP has left the Democrats in the rearview mirror is because of how they treated Joe Biden when forcing him out of the race. According to Karine:
"There’d been a group text or call, the congressperson told me. Nancy Pelosi was on it. And she was saying that Biden needed to abandon his reelection bid. It was my first hint of what was going on behind the president’s back." Loc 303 Kindle Edition
Except in 107 Days, Kamala insists that the Democrat party and high ranking members had nothing to do with Joe’s decision to drop out. It was his choice and his alone.
Well?
Which is it?
You can’t both be telling the truth.
Another reason why KJP left the Democrat party is because black women don’t owe the Democrats their vote. In fact, Democrats haven’t earned the vote of black women. According to Karine:
"When the Democratic Party emerged as the political alliance that was most supportive of social justice, Black people in general, and Black women in particular, carried the party on their backs." Loc 1584 Kindle Edition
Okay.
What’s more, by electing Kamala Harris to the highest office in the land, black women would finally be getting what they were owed.
"In 2024, the nation could have finally begun to repay what it owes us and benefited itself by giving the top leadership role to Harris, who could bring the talents embodied by so many Black women to the nation’s highest office" Loc 1620 Kindle Edition
That’s right. It’s reparations all the way down and reparations all the way up. To the bank, to the ballot box, there isn’t anywhere Americans and especially Democrats DON’T owe reparations. Karine goes on to encourage black women to also register as independent.
"I say to Black women in particular that it may be worth some of us conveying the message that though we may still vote for Democrats much of the time, we will enter the voting booth as independents because that’s one surefire way to capture the party’s attention." Loc 1789 Kindle Edition
It won’t capture anyone’s attention. No one will care. As long as you continue marching into the voting booth and punching the ticket for the person that has that big ol’ D by their name, they don’t care what you call yourself on the way out. And, I don’t really care, either. Your stances on policies have all remained the same. You will vote for every Democrat you get the opportunity to vote for whether you call yourself one or not.
If Karine Jean-Pierre is finally able to recognize the grift in the Democrat party, good for her. And, honestly, I’m not going to say the Republicans are much better. But, just because I think the Republican that represents my district and state is doing a poor job doesn’t mean I declare that I’m an independent. There are primaries. There are town halls. There are office phone numbers for me to call and encourage my representative to vote a certain way. At the end of the day, Karine Jean-Pierre declaring she’s an independent is the same as Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy. It doesn’t mean anything.

This book review has already gone on longer than Karine Jean-Pierre’s book should have. Don’t read it. It’s a waste of time. The dying gasp of a disposable member of the Biden administration. There won’t be any position for her at MS Now. The View is unlikely to come calling. Even NPR is out.
Then again, maybe not. Maybe Karine will get the reparations she so desperately demands in the form of some media job somewhere. She can be the first black lesbian to do that, too.
