If the shoe fits, it freaking fits!

Newt Gingrich claimed that governors such as Illinois’ JB Pritzker were committing “insurrection” by protecting illegal aliens from federal deportation under the Trump administration's efforts.

The very definition of an insurrection is a revolt against established authority and its laws. It’s unclear whether Pritzker realizes that he took an oath to serve the American people, not foreign nationals — but you can do the math. I won’t tell you whether this qualifies as an insurrection, but I will say that 'methinks he doth protest too much.'

On Monday, Pritzker accused ICE officers of targeting and harassing individuals because they were not White.

According to Fox News, Pritzker said, "ICE is running around the Loop harassing people for not being white. Just a year ago, that was illegal in the United States. Now, ICE is making it commonplace. That’s not making America great."

Now, I know, you know, and even your grandma knows that skin color has nothing to do with violating federal immigration laws. So, it’s absurd to claim there’s any link between not being White and being targeted for deportation. Yet, the nonsense didn’t end there.

According to Reuters:

The state of Illinois and the city of Chicago sued President Donald Trump on Monday, seeking to block the deployment of federalized National Guard troops to Chicago, as hundreds of National Guard troops from Texas headed to the nation's third-largest city.

Trump then escalated the widening clash with Democratic-led states and cities over the domestic use of military forces, threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act as a means to circumvent court restrictions on deploying troops where they are unwanted by local officials.

Illinois had sued in response to Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth's orders over the weekend to bring 300 Illinois National Guard members under federal control and then to mobilize another 400 Texas National Guard troops for deployment to Chicago.

Let’s do the math here. We have federal laws that make it illegal to enter this country unlawfully. Those laws exist for a reason — without proper vetting, we risk letting dangerous people slip through the cracks. Americans have already lost their lives because murderers were allowed in under the previous administration. That happened because the system failed — they practically opened the doors to anyone and their grandma. And I don’t know about you, but calling this an invasion doesn’t even begin to capture the severity of the situation.

Nonetheless, the federal government is doing the bare minimum to enforce the law, and the fact that some local and state officials are actively trying to block those efforts is a slap in the face to our government and democracy itself.

While Pritzker himself hasn’t engaged in any violence, I would still consider harboring criminal aliens who commit crimes against the American people as turning a blind eye to lawlessness and violence against the very citizens he’s sworn to protect. So, if I didn’t know any better, I might call this an insurrection — but I do know better, so I’ll refrain from saying that.
