“You had more sympathy for that gang member than my child”: Grieving mom UNLOADS on Soros-backed DA
George Gascón is such an awful District Attorney that even progressive voters in Los Angeles nearly recalled him. One can only wonder why you would implement policies that abolish gang enhancements, and decriminalize things like drug possession and trespassing. No youth can be tried as an adult under his leadership either, no matter how evil the crime is.
I can go on all day with a laundry list of policies that Gascon has put in place that have resulted in lawlessness and loads of suffering for law-abiding citizens, including death. But what makes all that even worse is the fact that Gascón does not even blink an eye to all the misery and destruction his policies have contributed to.
“A Los Angeles shooting victim's grieving mother confronted progressive District Attorney George Gascón with tough questions last week, slamming his allegedly soft-on-crime policies to his face.
"My child was killed by a gang member, and you had more sympathy for that gang member than my child who was killed in front of my home," Emma Rivas said during a district attorney debate over policies on gang-related crime enhancements last Thursday.
"Can you explain to me? Because I've been looking for you for four years."
Gascón responded, "I am broken-hearted for your loss," before defending his stance on criminal justice reform, adding, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. We as a country have been doing the same thing for generations."
Maybe he should take his own advice. His policies are not working in Los Angeles. And he is not changing anything. But maybe that is ignorant to say because his policies may be doing exactly what they are intended to do.
Rivas, whose son was murdered in Los Angeles in 2016, joined "Fox & Friends Weekend" on Sunday to follow up on the tense exchange she had with the embattled DA.
"We cannot have that kind of progressive DA in office," she said. "This is the first time in history, 180 years, that we've ever had a DA that has a heart for criminals and not a heart for the victims. There are parents that lost their children to murder that are 16, 17 years old and getting five years in jail. Where's the justice in this?
Even toddlers know that murder is wrong. Just because someone is 17 does not mean they should be let back out into the wild as if they just stole a pack of bubblegum.
But the worst part about all of this is that he will probably win re-election. Los Angeles voters are notorious for voting for more of the same, no matter how bad things get.
It’s unclear how decriminalizing things in favor of criminals is supposed to be in the best interest of anyone but those who commit crimes. So whether that is extreme incompetence or pure evil is up to you to decide.
