We here at the Louder with Crowder Dot Com website aren't ones for hyperbole, but this may be the most epic self-own in the history of politics. California Governor Gavin Newsom asked a Target employee why she didn't do anything about a shoplifter while he was their paying for stuff. Not knowing who her customer was, she said it was because of the Governor's policies.

So he asked to speak to a manager.

Newsom unintentionally played himself on a Zoom forum.

"We’re having a conversation, where’s your manager? How are you blaming the governor? And it was $380 later, and I was like ‘Why am I spending $380, everyone else can walk the hell right out?’”

Newsom tried to brag about California’s Prop. 47 which, according to him, makes it a felony to steal more than $950 worth a merchandise. The clerk said no one cares about that (this is per Newsom's version of events). I'm guessing because people have started stealing $949 and under worth of merch.

We've seen the results. I'll even narrow it to San Francisco, since the New York Post reports that where Newsom was shopping.

Chef Andrew Gruel, who owns a number of California restaurants, recently said he would never open another business in California. Why? It rhymes with Scmop 47.

"From the business owner’s perspective, now we need to prepare for the inevitable crime that's about to hit, whether it's burglaries, whether it's smash-and-grabs, or even if it's scammers, right? So that's not covered as much because the smash-and-grab stuff makes the headlines, but it's the scammers, it's all these little scams, everybody's trying to rip you off because under $900, you're not going to get busted for it."

Oh, and Newsom's Democrat party wants to pass a statewide law making it illegal for employees, like this Target clerk, to confront shoplifters. They claim it's in the name of “preventing workplace injury and violence and ensuring that employees have access to wellness resources.”

But all of that is basic progressive policies and the Democrat party not admitting they're the problem. Where Karen Newsom truly shines is in admitting OUT LOUD that he asked to speak to a manager. The Governor of California wanted to file a grievance against a part-time retail store employee. And Newsom shared this story, thinking it made the employee look like the asshole.

I'm not mad at it. I'm impressed with the lack of self-awareness. Or understanding how the internets work.
