Michigan is known for taking the automobile industry very seriously. So, for a Senate candidate in Michigan to bash cars would imply he could not care less about the state’s economy. El-Sayed is that person.

In 2016, Abdul El-Sayed claimed, "Cars are the modern-day cigarette.” And while cars continue to be a necessity for many people, cigarettes are not. This is what makes it exceptionally bizarre for him to bash the very thing that supplies many people's income in the state, when he said, “Cars are a big deal in Detroit whether or not you like them.”

This man has proven time and again that he is not in the fight to make people better off. He could not care less about what the people want. There is more than enough evidence, however, to conclude he will ensure his progressive utopia is ushered in, despite sensible people not wanting any of that. To call him a wannabe tyrant would be putting it lightly.

Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed agreed that “cars are the modern-day cigarette” during a 2016 speech in Boston, adding to a series of past remarks criticizing everything from American football to Fourth of July fireworks.

“Detroit is Motown. It’ll also be the Motor City,” El-Sayed said. “Cars are a big deal in Detroit whether or not you like them.”

“One person made an argument to me that I probably agree with,” he continued. “Cars are the modern-day cigarette. They’re just like this, like, why do we do it this way?”

The fact that he says such nonsense but still might win the election defies reason. No one who cares about the future of Michigan would vote for him. Ironically, we can only expect the most naive voters to bring his candidacy to fruition. What a total disgrace.
