To call euthanasia a slippery slope would be an understatement.
Euthanasia typically goes a little something like this. First, the powers that be claim it will solely be used for the terminally ill who are moments away from dying, but the patient is in unbearable pain. This then moves to patients with illnesses with no known cures. The bureaucracy then moves on to the mentally ill. And in the Netherlands, officials have gone so far down the slippery slope they are now applauding the first state-sanctioned killing of a TODDLER. YES. LET THAT SINK IN. And no, the young child was not terminally ill, according to reports.

According to Decision Magazine:
A Dutch review committee has determined that the decision to euthanize a nearly 2-year-old toddler with severe disabilities was “handled well”—while multiple Dutch doctors involved in the case opposed the decision, arguing the child could have improved under different medication.
To call this evil would not even begin to describe it.
The toddler, whose gender has not been disclosed, was the first child to be killed under an expanded euthanasia law in the Netherlands that extended the age limit of euthanasia to include children aged 1 to 12, if their parents agree.
The child’s life was still worth living. And the fact that the state has opened up this “program” to children is a level of moral depravity no one knew was possible. The child deserved better, but the poor kid was failed by everyone who was supposed to advocate on their behalf. I just cannot deal with this level of evil.
According to the committee, the child was born prematurely, had severe brain damage and was unable to communicate. The child was diagnosed with periventricular leukomalacia— which caused visual impairment—had cerebral palsy, was diagnosed with infantile epileptic spasm syndrome, and largely did not respond to epilepsy medication. Due to the epilepsy, the child was restless and often unable to sleep. Additionally, mucus gathered in the lungs, making breathing and swallowing difficult. Though the child was nearly 2 years old, its developmental age was at about six weeks.
The parents asked that their child be euthanized after the child’s doctor concluded that the child was suffering “unbearably” and that his life was “hopeless” to get better.
In other words, the child was not terminally ill. Nonetheless, officials reviewed the case and still concluded this was “handled well.” Additionally, many doctors had different opinions regarding this case. Several said the conditions could improve with medication, while only after doctor shopping did one medical professional conclude the child’s condition was “hopeless.” The fact that there is no objective way to discern such a matter tells you all you need to know.
It was never up to the parents, medical professionals, or the government to conclude this child’s life was not worth living. This kid had intrinsic value, and it is disturbing, to say the very least, that their life was given up on, all under the guise of ending “suffering.” What a disgrace.
