"The Children Are Always Ours": Teachers' union president proclaims that they own your kids

It’s no surprise that Chicago Public Schools are among the worst-performing in the country, and one of the main reasons might just be the teachers' union. That union, by the way, is led by someone who sends her own son to a private school, even though she campaigns against your right to school choice, citing “racism” or something along those lines. But today’s story is even worse.
While the district apparently isn’t good enough for the CTU president’s child, it’s perfectly fine for yours. And her justification? She essentially claims they own your kids, implying that the union knows better than you when it comes to what’s best for your children.
Chicago Teachers Union president Stacy Davis Gates mocked parents with a high-pitched voice, going so far as to claim ownership over their children.

Pure evil.
Gates quoted philosopher James Baldwin to argue that she has the right to control and influence children.

According to The Daily Economy:
This week, Gates’ hubris was on full display at the City Club of Chicago, where she declared, “The children are always ours. Every single one of them. All over the globe.” She admitted her critics are right when they say her union believes it owns the children in public schools.
This moment wasn’t a gaffe — it was a confession. Last year, she led a CTU rally chant: “Whose children? Our children!” Vice President Kamala Harris, whom Gates supported in her presidential run, echoed this socialist sentiment in 2022: “When you see our kids, and I truly believe that they are our children, they are the children of our country, of our communities.”

As bestselling author Michael Malice put it, “Socialists regard your property as their property, but even more nefariously regard your children as their property.”
If they care so much about the kids, why do their actions imply otherwise? Because the least they can do is produce subpar rates, but we have yet to see much but abysmal outcomes.
According to The Illinois Policy Institute:
Half of Chicagoans said their biggest concern was “students not learning enough academically.” They expect Chicago Public Schools to “prepare students to go to college.” But the Chicago Teachers Union is demanding more schools that fail those expectations.
Chicagoans think the Chicago Public Schools district is doing a lackluster job, with over half giving it a “C” grade in a poll by Public Agenda, a national, nonpartisan research organization.
Only 3% of Chicagoans think CPS deserves a grade of A.
Yet, she thinks she knows better than you when it comes to educating your kids. Incredible, just incredible.
Hardly any residents believe the teachers union is doing its job—and it’s being led by a buffoon who thinks mocking concerned parents somehow proves whatever political point she’s trying to make.
What’s the motive here? Why does she believe she owns other people’s kids—and what exactly does she plan to do with this hypothetical army? Because clearly, it’s not about teaching them math or science. But I guess that’s not too surprising, considering some of the most radical leftists now argue that things like grades and arithmetic are somehow “racist.”
And the worst part? These schools are among the most heavily funded in the nation, yet more than 150 of them sit half-empty, all while producing some of the worst performance rates in the country. For the CTU president to imply she’s an authority on all things education is a slap in the face to students everywhere. But honestly, what else should we expect from yet another “do as I say, not as I do” Democratic operativedelete- YouTubewww.youtube.com
