Chicago Has A Novel Way To Combat Violent Crime: Remind Criminals It Is Illegal

Only the most foolish leftists try anything and everything under the book to supposedly go after violent crime, while adamantly refusing to actually do a thing or two to decrease numbers. In this pathetic pursuit, Chicago has implemented 7,000 signs across public transit warning that violent crimes will not be tolerated.

In other words, crime is, in fact, illegal. Who would have guessed?
Per Fox 32:
The Cook County State's Attorney's Office and the Chicago Transit Authority are launching a new public awareness campaign warning that prosecutors will seek pretrial detention for people accused of committing violent crimes on public transit.
The initiative will place more than 7,000 signs on CTA buses and trains that say, "Violence on the CTA will not be tolerated. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office will prosecute and seek pretrial detention for all violent offenses on public transit."
"In order to have a safe and thriving city, we need to have a safe public transportation system," Cook County State's Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke said in a statement.
There are many problems with this initiative. Firstly, it is unlikely the violent criminals will read those signs. And even if they do, it is doubtful they will change their behavior solely because a sign demands them to. Secondly, while it is cute they are pretending to care, this will do absolutely nothing for public safety. Thirdly, all this does is prove how pathetic and out of control the city truly is.
But what do you expect when this is the mayor's past comments regarding a shooting on the CTA?
Typical @ChicagosMayor: A mass shooting takes place on the CTA, and his comments are framed to blame the GOP and reopen the debate over gun control.
Can anyone here say definitively any gun control measure on the books would have prevented this crime?

Weird how Illinois has some of the strongest gun control legislation in the country yet Chicago seems to be one of the most violent cities in the world. Why do you think that is?
Does the city really think those signs will put a dent in crimes like this?

To call these leftist officials pathetic would be an understatement. It really is not rocket science. Proactive policing and an accountability culture will do far more for the city than whatever this is. The fact that this is the best they can do to pretend to care should deliver greater outrage.
