Chicago Mayor Establishes ‘ICE-Free Zones’ to Keep Federal Agents Off City Property

The mayor of Chicago has about 99 problems—and ICE raids aren’t one of them. Among those problems is the fact that at least 30 people were shot over the weekend, something rarely seen even in some developing nations. Yet, federal enforcement of immigration laws isn’t on that list. That’s what makes it troubling, illogical, and possibly even unlawful that the mayor has decided the city should now be declared off-limits to such authority.

Mayor Brandon Johnson has declared Chicago city property off-limits to federal immigration agents. Because when you’ve got record crime and chaos, the real problem, obviously, is people enforcing the law. As the Trump administration sends National Guard troops to Illinois, Chicago is making sure no one enforces anything without permission.

According to Fox News:
Johnson established the "ICE-free zones" — referring to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — as part of his Protecting Chicago Initiative, rejecting President Donald Trump’s crime crackdown and deportation rollout in the city.
"Today, we are signing an executive order aimed at reining in this out-of-control administration," Johnson said during a news conference on Monday. "The order establishes ICE-free zones. That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as staging grounds for these raids."
What about protecting law-abiding Americans? Is that not his priority? Because actions speak louder than words, and in his case, they both say the same thing. We can only conclude that he intends to protect foreign nationals at the expense of American citizens — and that has no place in this country.
