Uh Oh! Bud Light Pulls Amy Schumer, Seth Rogen Ad Campaign After Sales Drop
The last few months have been rough on Amy Schumer. Though not as rough as looking at her face has been on us. First people drowned her out in boos at her own gig. Then Twitter skewered her for "racism." Now? Her commercial deal with Bud Light is falling through after failing miserably...
The Anheuser-Busch "Party" campaign starring Seth Rogen and Amy Schumer failed to resonate with the target market. The brewer reported today that Bud Light sales to retailers fell by "mid-single digits" in the third quarter. The brand lost 0.65 points of market share in the third quarter.
The Bud Light campaign was always intended to end its run in the fall, but as the brewer seeks to turn around the sales they are now concentrating on NFL-themed advertising. A distributor [said]: "It was a very disappointing campaign. If a campaign sells beer it doesn't matter if we like it or not as long as it works. But our trends are worse and worsening so there is a lot of concern about Bud Light."
Some of us saw this coming from a mile away, when the commercials first came out. See Bud Light Runs Shameless "Equal Pay" Commercial. And it's Cringeworthy.... Spoiler: They're unfunny and unsightly, much like the talent starring in said commercials.
Remember when we said shamelessly forcing politics into entertainment was a bad idea? It didn't work for the NFL (see NFL Ratings Drop MAJORLY Following Athlete Protests...). It also hasn't worked for Amy Schumer multiple times, but she still hasn't learned. This is further proof that people don't want politics mixed in with their beer. Or maybe they just hate seeing the blonde swamp heifer on their T.V. screen. Or maybe the pubelike fuzz on Seth Rogen's triple chins is unappetizing. Either way, the people have spoken...
Apparently people hated the commercials so much that comments are disabled in the YouTube section. It probably won't be long before the videos are pulled from YouTube altogether, as is the Schumerian way...
