AOC Scolds Dan Crenshaw for Loaning Guns to Friends Because She Fundamentally Believes the Worst of People

Courtney Kirchoff
September 04, 2019

Where you line up on guns or loaning guns isn't the issue here. I need you to set that on the shelf for a second and focus on a bigger point: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's attitude toward the American people. Here's the scuttlebutt. Dan Crenshaw tweeted in response to a story of a woman defending herself with a gun against five men. He said with universal background checks, he couldn't loan guns to friends when they travel alone. That's when AOC dropped this steaming pile:

You are a member of Congress. Why are you “lending” guns to people unsupervised who can’t pass a basic background c… https://t.co/76jx4iLycP
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez)1567605844.0

Crenshaw responded:

Just so I’m clear: you think my friends are domestic abusers/criminals? Seriously that’s your argument? That they c… https://t.co/JeNoQORf4G
— Dan Crenshaw (@Dan Crenshaw)1567615081.0

To address those who can't see the forest for the trees, Crenshaw made no mention that his friends couldn't pass background checks. The problem is one must first go through a universal background check before possessing a firearm. We're not talking about an inability to pass the check, but the time cost of the background procedure itself while defenseless.

AOC jumped right to a nasty conclusion: Dan Crenshaw's friends are violent abusers.

Dan Crenshaw is a former Navy SEAL and sitting member of Congress. He probably has some decent friends, unlike the Clintons. Crenshaw seems like an honorable man, his opinion on black socks while deadlifting aside. To AOC, not even a former Navy SEAL is equipped to judge who his friends really are. To AOC, only the federal government via a background check can determine if someone is trustworthy enough to possess a means of self-defense while traveling alone.

Put simpler, AOC doesn't trust you. If she doesn't trust and makes noise about a decorated Navy SEAL loaning guns to his friends, not random strangers leaving emojis on his Instagram, there's no way she thinks you are responsible enough to own or loan a firearm without first getting a blessing from Mommy Government.

As a reminder, the United States system of government was established to give rights to the people. Government officials like Crenshaw and Ocasio-Cortez work at our behest. AOC would do well to remember we are her employers, she is not our ruler granting favors.
