This Marco Rubio Tweet Perfectly Illustrates Conservatives' Distrust in Media
Lately, on Twitter, Marco Rubio has been slamming hacks like quarterback sacks from LT (see Marco Rubio Nails It, Explains How Leftists are Helping Trump and Marco Rubio Calls Out Democrats End Game: Open Borders). That's a Wu-Tang Clan reference. It's hip-hop. Marco will get it. Today, he perfectly sums up why there is so much distrust in the media on the right. Why so many of us, even if we aren't always thrilled with Trump, don't care enough to be THAT upset. Look no further than the last two presidential candidates.
For many of you, John McCain and Mitt Romney aren't your particular brand of bourbon. They are "media darlings." Which is the point Rubio is making. John McCain is the Republican everyone on cable news says we should strive to be. Except during the six months he was running for president. When he was just a crazy old man. Who was probably going to die in the Oval Office. While bombing Iran.
Romney is the most milquetoast candidate anyone could ask for. He was even supposed to save us from Trump in 2016. Even though that same media said we needed McCain to save us from Mitt in 2008. Not when Romney was the candidate, though, in 2012. In 2012 Mitch literally gave people cancer. When he wasn't literally putting women in binders. All while Paul Ryan was literally pushing your granny off of a mountain in her wheelchair.
It's no surprise so many on the right all said, "F*** you, we're going with Trump." The media has made it clear no matter who our candidate is, that person is the worst person who ever lived. A cross between Hitler and the people who try to talk to you while you are working out at the gym. So let's go with Trump. A guy who clearly doesn't care about playing the media game. Choosing the kick over the game board route instead.
That's why people on the right who aren't straight up "MAGA ALL THE THINGS" don't go out of our way to criticize. When we went with a less chaotic candidate, they were treated like a despot anyway.
