Florida School Board Removes Dozens of Pornographic Books After Parents Read Graphic Passages Aloud
Dozens of books have been removed from schools in one Florida county after parents and others read excerpts aloud from books they wanted removed, and one person was even escorted out by security, at Monday’s board of education meeting.
The board decided to remove the books because of a rule signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in May states that parents "shall have the right to read passages from any material that is subject to an objection."
If a school board denies the right to read passages considered "pornographic" or "harmful to minors," the district must discontinue the use of such materials,' according to HB 1069.
Seems like the Board actively made a decision to ignore laws and only acted on it when they got caught.
“‘Living Dead Girl' by Elizabeth Scott. Currently in the Sebastian River High School. You know you're supposed to listen when I talk to you? He shoved me to the floor and pulled off my pants," one person said during a public comment.
"We are adults and if there are children out there. I understand that. I understand that. But we don't want to be reading that aloud," Indian River County School Board Chair Dr. Peggy Jones said.
It is so funny how grown adults can’t even listen to the sick nonsense they are imposing upon students.
In one video, Pastor John K. Amanchukwu Sr. was interrupted by the board while reading the book "13 Reasons Why" by Jay Asher.
"As if letting him finger me was going to cure all my problems," Amanchukwu Sr. read from the book. "Sir, I'll stop you there," one board member responded.
The board's decision only called to have the books removed that were read at that meeting. So it is probably safe to assume there is still pornographic material in those libraries.
Jennifer Pippin, Chair of the Indian River County Chapter of Moms for Liberty, told Florida Voice that they had to challenge the books twice and it took nearly TWO YEARS for the Board to remove the books.Schools are not institutions meant to groom kids. How do these books get into our libraries in the first place?
