Jury Awards $1.2 Million To Robert De Niro’s Former Assistant In Bullying, Gender Discrimination Suit
We should all give Robert De Niro a warm welcome to the world of Liberal Wokery he helped create.
Canal, Robert De Niro’s production company, must pay his ex-assistant $1.2 million after it lost a sexism lawsuit, according to the Daily Mail.
Graham Chase Robinson, who originally sought $12 million, was awarded two identical damages payments of $632,142.96 for gender discrimination and retaliation. This amount is meant to represent four years of lost work based on her previous salary in which she earned $300,000 by the time of her resignation.
Robinson began working for the company in 2008 as an executive assistant with a $75,000 salary and resigned in 2019 after landing the title of VP of Production and Finance. Robinson accused the actor of calling her a “b*tch” on multiple occasions. She also alleged that he asked her for back scratches.
Robinson claimed that she was unable to find a new job after resigning and blamed De Niro for it. Subsequently, De Niro counter-sued her for $6 million for airline miles he alleged she stole from him, but she was found not liable.
How is it De Niro’s fault that she could not find a job after SHE Resigned? Does that make sense to anyone? Although I am not a fan of the actor, that seems very odd to me.
It is unclear as to why his company was found liable and De Niro was not.
According to the Daily Mail, Robinson was overcome with joy and on the verge of tears following the jury's verdict.
Robinson’s psychiatrist said she suffered from a “serious and often disabling psychological condition” including memory loss due to trauma. However, a psychiatrist hired by De Niro’s lawyers described her as “narcissistic and paranoid.”
“Female employees were expected to be on call 24/7 for Bob. He didn’t expect male employees to be on call for him,” Robinson claimed during her testimony.
I am generally curious, did the fact that more females had to be on call have anything to do with the possibility that most of the employees in assistant-type roles were women? I would like to know the demographic breakdown by role to understand this claim a bit better.
“I gave this job my life. I didn’t have kids because I worked,” she said.
No one pointed a gun at her head. She chose a career in Hollywood and I am sure she knew the hours it entailed. I am having a hard time believing it was De Niro’s fault for her not having kids but the jury believed her so I guess the case is closed, right?
I don’t know much about De Niro but I am aware of quite a few instances in which he has trashed Trump and pushed for radical progressive ideology. And because of that, I really don’t care that his company has to fork over millions.
"I've spent a lot of time studying bad men," a statement from the actor read last month. "I've examined their characteristics, their mannerisms, the utter banality of their cruelty. Yet there's something different about Donald Trump. When I look at him, I don't see a bad man. Truly. I see an evil one."
Would he be one of the "bad men" he has spent so much time studying?
Usually, I don’t take defamation lawsuits that seriously as I have no interest in a ‘he said she said’ debate. But for the record, this lawsuit was just plain stupid.
Even though I am not a fan of De Niro, if it was really that bad of a work environment, why the heck did she stay there for over a decade? If it was THAT bad you think she would have at least quit prior to her earning over a quarter of a million dollars annually. Not many people in life go from $75,000 to $300,000 at the same company. And at a “toxic” one for that matter.
Were there even records of her complaining to HR? Or was it only after she quit that she realized how “toxic” the workplace was?
Anyways, he's a jerk and you reap what you sow. This couldn’t have happened to a more hypocritical leftist.
And for the record, De Niro was filmed outside Manhattan Federal Court on Wednesday evening wearing a face mask. Obviously, he is still a clown.
Let this be a lesson to all liberal nut cases: You can never be woke enough because progressives always eat their own.
Honestly, I am sure he really was not the best guy to work with. But maybe she should have talked to some dude in a kitchen working for minimum wage before she started telling the world how hard her $300k life was. And for the record, if she had a hard time finding work before this lawsuit, I do not think this will make it any easier.
That said, who is the “fool” now, De Niro?
