“Oh, Geez, Peter!” Watch WH Get Snippy With Reporter Asking Why Biden Thanked Qatar... Who HOSTS Hamas Leaders
National security spokesperson John Kirby lost his cool with Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy after he asked why the Biden administration thanked Qatar, who is the major provider of funding and weapons to Hamas, only after Iran.
Biden previously thanked the Qatari and Israeli governments "for their partnership" in securing the release of two American hostages taken by Hamas.
“Talking about getting Americans out of Gaza, President Biden said, ‘I want to thank our partners in the region and particularly Qatar.’ The leader of Hamas lives in Qatar! So, why is President Biden thanking them for anything?” Doocy asked.
“Oh, geez, Peter,” Kirby began. “Let’s take a step back here and look at this.”
Doocy cut him off and said, “They’re the terrorist group that killed Americans and kidnapped Americans within the last month!”
“Peter, Qatar has been helpful in getting those Americans out….. Qatar was a key player in that regard. Qatar has lines of communication with Hamas that almost nobody else has,” Kirby said.
Kirby said that the administration does not support Hamas and that Israel has a right to defend itself.
"It would be irresponsible ... if we weren’t doing everything we could and having every possible conversation we can have to get Americans…held hostage back home with their families…..it would be diplomatic malpractice,” Kirby said.
Doocy responded, “You’re making my point here! If Qatar is so helpful, why aren’t we asking them to hand over the leader of this terrorist group?”
According to reports, Hamas has only released two American hostages so far.
Let’s get this straight, Qatar is still hosting the leader of Hamas but we are supposed to believe that by thanking them, this somehow benefits the United States because that's the only way we can negotiate with terrorists who are holding Americans hostage in Gaza.
Is anyone buying that?
Qatar is one of Hamas’ largest political and financial patrons after Iran, with its annual support ranging up to $480 million. This subsequently helps Hamas maintain political control over Gaza, while Al-Jazeera, Qatar’s state-sponsored media channel, spreads anti-Americanism and anti-semitism.
We know Qatar does nothing to keep Hamas in check as it was proven on Oct. 7, when Hamas attacked Israel.
As Richard Goldberg wrote in the Washington Journal, "The operation via Qatar is aimed at pulling on American and Israeli heartstrings and undermining Israel’s military operations while creating opportunities to showcase Hamas as humanitarian, not barbaric."
Rather than thanking Qatar while Americans are still being held hostage in Gaza, the White House needs to put pressure on them so that all Americans being held hostage are released, which can be done by holding them accountable for any deaths of hostages.
