No one alive today owned slaves. No one alive today was a slave. This is what makes it insane and bizarre that Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley said, “Every bit of prosperity you enjoy was built on our backs,” and that Black people “are long overdue for reparations.”
What prosperity was built and by whom? These are questions that must be answered if we are talking about a debt that needs to be paid. The problem is that Pressley has no answers because no problems exist in the first place. She does not care, though, because she lives in the La La Land of reparations, where skin color dictates universal income, despite people alive today having never been a victim of this system.
Per a press release from March:
Congresswoman Pressley is the lead sponsor of H.R. 40, historic reparations legislation that would address the harmful legacy of slavery and establish a federal commission to develop reparations proposals for African American descendants of enslaved people.
While we can be certain this will never come to fruition, it is still, nonetheless, deranged and should never be tolerated.
Question: Will White people who are also the descendants of slaves be afforded such compensation?
And call me crazy, but for someone to be awarded such a settlement, don't they have to be the victim of a crime? If Pressley wants to pay people based on skin color, she has got to do better than some vague notion of generational trauma that probably does not even exist, and that someone, somewhere was the victim of an evil system.
In February 2025, during Black History Month, Rep. Pressley and Senator Cory Booker reintroduced H.R. 40, serving as a powerful counterweight to the unprecedented onslaught against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives from the Trump Administration and a call to action to address the systemic oppression of Black people.
Last time I checked, there was an amendment that prevents laws from discriminating against people based on race. This is what makes it bizarre that they claim there is “the systemic oppression of Black people.”
Additionally, to end this alleged oppression, people like Pressley are mad that they can't discriminate against White people and get around it by labeling it “DEI.” In other words, fighting racism that does not exist with racism. The fact that the left believes this makes them compassionate is deeply deranged.
That being said, Pressley is a total idiot and a disgrace to this great nation. But what else is new?
