POLL: The Democrat Impeachment Inquiry has LOST Independent Voters
There is a popular expression if you come at the king you better not miss. Democrats should have kept that in mind before launching an impeachment inquiry. Especially after not learning their lesson after the failed attempt to prove Trump is a Russian spy. After three-plus years of looking for something on which to impeach the president, things haven't been going so well for Democrats (see Top Five Things More Interesting than the Impeachment Hearings and Democrats Changed Impeachment Charge After Battleground State Polling).
Impeachment was supposed to be how Democrats beat Donald Trump. Much easier than having to run against a great economy and record unemployment rates. Good luck doing so without the support of independent voters.
Opposition by independents to the House’s ongoing impeachment inquiry jumped 10 percentage points in the last week, according to a Politico–Morning Consult poll released Tuesday. The poll showed 47 percent of independents opposed the inquiry, compared to 37 percent last week. Meanwhile support for the inquiry by independents fell 7 points to 40 percent.
Support for the inquiry among all respondents fell 2 points to 48 percent, while opposition to it rose 3 points to 45 percent.
Unless Democrats have a witness who can produce a selfie with Trump, taken while he was shaking down the Ukrainian president, their dreams of impeaching Trump are on par with their dreams of President Hillary Rodham Clinton. Scream at the sky, Dems. See if that makes it all better.
Impeaching the president takes precision. Democrats have all the precision of Bernie Sanders doing the hokey pokey and turning himself around. I guess there's no one to explain to Democrats that anytime they hold public hearings, it hasn't worked out for them. In fact, it typically backfires like a Swalwell toot.
So Schifty Schiff and the rest, you guys keep doing you. Everything is totally going to work out this time.
