OPINION: If Men Can't Comment on 'Women's Bodies' Then Adults Can't Comment on Fetal Bodies
Brace yourselves: today, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted a stupid thing, which opened herself up to even more criticism, but ultimately led to a point in need of making. Leftist feminists often shame men who dare wade into the abortion debate, saying abortion is a woman's issue and if a man has an opinion, he can shove it up his butt. It's a play on the appeal to authority fallacy, and yes, it's stupid. But people like AOC saying "Men can't comment on abortion because WOMYNZ ISSUES" are usually completely ignorant on basic fetal facts. Yet they're making decisions, writing legislation, and supporting laws without knowing anything about the subjects of those laws.
Behold, the tweets:
Firstly, here's what's true: a fetal heartbeat begins very early in the pregnancy, at about the time a woman finds out she's pregnant. What does that tell you? Other than at least AOC got her math right.
AOC and her baby-killing minions try to equate the heartbeat bills with a women's period, moving the goal posts away from a baby's proof of life, back to a woman's body, so she can continue hounding on the "men are sexist animals who should STFU about women's issues."
But for the sake of argument, let's go with AOC's appeal of authority fallacy. How many pro-choice Democrats or media lackeys, Like Christine Quinn and Chris Cuomo, know anything about fetal development? Related: WATCH: Christine Quinn on CNN Says Women Aren't Pregnant with Human Beings. I'm going to go with very few.
Yet people like AOC, who may have never seen a fetal development chart, are making decisions and supporting legislation which condemns unborn children, with heartbeats, brainwaves, fingers, and toes, to death. The same people who contort themselves into philosophical pretzels, saying anti-science things like "fetuses are not people" or "fetuses may be human beings but they aren't sentient persons" are the same people telling the rest of us what is and isn't moral when it comes to abortion.
I call bullshit. An unborn child has a separate body from the mother. That's science. So men can and should weigh in on the abortion debate just as much as women can and should speak out against abortion. Don't clam up, guys, it's all a smoke screen to keep you out of the fight. But furthermore, if only women are allowed to comment on women's issues, and men are only allowed to comment on men's issues, then only fetal beings (since the left insists they're not actual humans, and thus have no gender, right?) should be allowed to comment and make laws for other fetal beings.
People like AOC, who equate pregnancy with a missed period, and Christine Quinn who insists a woman isn't pregnant with a human being, have no authority to speak on behalf of fetal issues. Especially since AOC specifically says "Most of the men writing these bills don’t know the first thing about a woman’s body outside of the things they want from it." Well, most pro-choice people writing abortion laws don't know the first thing about fetal bodies, outside of the things they want to do with it. Like pitch it in the trash or sell its parts for fat stacks of blood-stained cash.
