Barack Obama is often referred to as the Deporter in Chief, but does his record actually prove that claim? Today’s show breaks it down.
People often claim that the left only complains about deportation when a Republican does it, as they said nothing when Clinton or Obama did it. The problem with this is that these things are not comparable, as the numbers often thrown out do not actually represent the situation.
For example, many claim that Obama deported over 5 million people during his administration, while 12 million were deported under Clinton.
“This argument that people make just does not make sense. You can’t maintain the position that it's a good thing that Donald Trump is fixing the border, but then claim there was no problem because Obama and Clinton did it twice as much.”
This is especially true because many of Obama’s numbers were a result of “returns” of new arrivals at the Southern Border. This does not involve the courts. There are many fewer arrivals now under the Trump Administration. “True removals” would be the formal process of deporting an illegal alien, which would include getting a court order.
“We don't really have those now because people are not really trying to get across the border. That's actually been fixed,” Crowder said. “Trump is more effective, and the left is mad about it. The reason the left is mad is that deportation should be the reason you support it. Don't use the argument that the left deported more people because they didn't; they imported far more people.”
Over 90 percent of Clinton's deportations were returned, compared to 74 percent of Obama’s. So, when you break this down, Clinton deported around 800,000, and Obama deported 1.4 million. This also does not break down how many of these returns were from people who had made more than one attempt to enter.
“In the real world, we all know that the number of illegal aliens in this country grew under Obama and Clinton. Under Clinton, the illegal population went up by 3.2 million, and under Obama, it went up by 2.8 million. That is the contrast to Donald Trump actually deporting people,” Crowder said. “He solved 95 percent of the problem that they didn’t solve at the border. Please stop using the argument.”
The last thing the right needs is the left claiming credit for deportation, as it’s only a matter of time before deporting illegals becomes overwhelmingly popular.
“The left will claim credit for it, and they will cite you as giving them credit,” Crowder said.
