New Trump Derangement Syndrome: Rolling Stones Lyrics

Brodigan
August 31, 2018

You know the media has gotten silly when they're questioning the lyrics of an almost 50 year old Rolling Stones song. Just because it was played before a Donald Trump rally. If you're triggered by it too, see a doctor about your Trump Derangement Syndrome. Yesterday. You're in danger (see MSNBC is Just Livid Over People Still Liking Trump and Therapists Warn of Rise in ‘Trump Anxiety Disorder’ Among Leftists) if you're tweeting things like this:

Here are the lyrics to the Rolling Stones' 'Brown Sugar,' which is playing at the Trump rally right now. https://t.co/iZ9tpf0D1N

It's sad really. When I was a political consultant, anytime a client would use a song, I'd have to review the lyrics. Because if I didn't, there would be a dickhead reporter questioning life as we know it. I should clarify: lyrics only matter for Republican candidates. Democrats could listen to whatever they wanted. They could hang out with the artists who had "questionable" lyrics. Republicans, not so much. Democrats could play "Kung Fu Fighting" while throwing wontons into the crowd and media would call it inclusive.

But Donald Trump, no, he's just a racist. Who purposely chose a song from 1971, if I understand what's being implied here, because he *squints at notes* dislikes African Americans.

Mick Jagger couldn't be reached for comment. Keith Richards is unable to comment.
