🚨NEW: Dem Sen. Chris Murphy tells Jim Acosta *ULTERIOR MOTIVE* behind Gov't Shutdown🚨

If the government is going to shut down, the people responsible had better have a very, very good reason—because right now, lawmakers are acting like de facto useless. At the very least, one would hope this has nothing to do with political theater. But according to Democratic Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy, this whole debacle was exactly that—optics, at best.
Because for the fiftieth time, this shutdown was supposedly meant to alert the American people to the “threat to democracy” in the 2026 election. And while democracy wasn’t shut down the previous fifty times they warned, and while they are the ones who made the 2024 election arguably the most undemocratic in American history, and while it was the Democrats who carried out a de facto coup on the democratically elected president to install a DEI hire no one voted for—this time, this time will truly be the end of democracy. And that, my friends, is precisely why Murphy claims the government had no choice but to shut down.
According to the Daily Caller:
“People want to see us fighting. They want to see us have a backbone. They want to know how we’re different from [President] Donald Trump,” Murphy told Acosta. “And when we don’t fight hard, especially when the entire enterprise of democracy is at risk, then we don’t seem sincere when we tell people that there might not be a free and fair election in 2026.”
No. Actually, that’s not what people want. People don’t elect senators to make their lives more difficult. They don’t elect senators to give free healthcare to foreign nationals. And they certainly don’t elect senators to jeopardize the agenda of a man who was democratically elected. They realize that, right? That Donald Trump was democratically elected, right? How can you “save” democracy while refusing to listen to the people? They realize they also represent Trump supporters, right?
Pretty rich to claim this is all about “free and fair elections” when they refuse to accept the results the moment things don’t go their way.
“People say, ‘Well, if that’s the case, why were you so eager to sign on to a budget that funded the destruction of democracy?’ So what we’re doing here is protecting our constituents, but we’re also signaling to people how urgent the moment is by being willing to hold the line here,” he added.
No. No one said that. No one. And by “constituents,” they mean everyone except the majority of Americans who voted for Trump, right?
Call me crazy, but admitting that political theater is the only way to convince the masses you are sincere in your disdain for Trump says more than the left would like it to. Nonetheless, this shutdown does no one any favors—including the so-called constituents it’s supposedly meant to help. The only real threat to democracy is the side that refuses to act unless it’s despite Trump. And to call that a threat to “free and fair elections” doesn’t even begin to capture it.
