In what I would call a grave injustice, Darriynn Brown, who murdered 4-year-old Cash Gernon of Dallas, Texas, back in May of 2021, was found mentally incompetent by both the defense’s and the prosecutor’s psychiatric experts, reports Fox4.

If I’m being honest, I don’t think it’s difficult to argue anyone who commits murder is mentally incompetent. If they were, they would have been capable of understanding the consequences of their actions and, well, ultimately chosen to not commit murder. But because Brown was explicitly labeled as such, he’s unable to aid in his own defense and will not stand trial.

Not only will he not stand trial at the moment, but the chances of Brown going to trial at all are slim, depending on his ability to improve after being transferred to the state mental hospital. If he doesn’t, if he remains incompetent, then this monster will continue stealing oxygen on the taxpayer’s dime.

See, I may be an outlier, but I don’t think people who murder children—who commit murder at all, frankly—should be allowed to live anymore. People who abuse children are on that list, too. I think they forfeit that right, and I don’t really care if that person is insane or not. In truth, that person being insane might be more of a reason to put them down. We do it to dogs if they bite someone. And the animals that murder children aren’t much different. In my mind, that is.

Because you see, anyone who would take a sleeping child from his bed and brutally stab him to death, leaving his body out in the street, is not someone who should be allowed to see any more sunrises.

Sadly, I’m not the one making the rules, and our justice system seems liberal in every way except for its application of the death penalty, which I think is a shame.
