Country music used to be a helluva good time. Full of classic melodies about whiskey and women, and full of larger than life characters. Well, it would appear the days of good ol' boy outlaws like Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings are behind us. Only to be replaced with a bunch of millionaire metrosexuals who soullessly namedrop beer and pickup truck references.

Now, it's looking like the decline is reaching rock bottom. Willie Nelson's guitar isn't the only Trigger in the country music business anymore. A group of "offended" leftist executives got together to bully Mike Huckabee out of his new gig at the Country Music Association. All for having the wrong religion and politics.

Yeah, really.

The controversy started when the Country Music Association triggered a massive outbreak of microaggressions after they appointed Huckabee to the board of its charitable foundation.

A mob of social justice warriors, led by openly gay country music executive Jason Owen, protested – calling Huckabee’s appointment “grossly offensive” and “heartbreaking.”

“This man has made it clear that my family is not welcome in his America,” the owner of Sandbox Entertainment wrote in a letter to the CMA. “And the CMA has opened their arms to him, making him feel welcome and relevant.”

Owen also objected to the former governor’s involvement with the National Rifle Association calling it “harmful and damaging.”

Less than 24 hours later, Huckabee resigned from the CMA Foundation Board

A Christian who likes guns having a position in country music?

The cancer that is leftism already infected Hollywood and Washington. It's no surprise to see it metastasizing southward. The real question now is how long before country singers trade their F-150s for Priuses? Or southern belles trade their Daisy Dukes for hijabs? Budweisers for vegan craft beers? Six strings for ukuleles?

This tale further proves there's is no room in entertainment for people who think outside leftist orthodoxy. Even if said form of entertainment runs contrary to everything lefties hold dear. It's yet another American tradition butt-raped into compliance by political correctness. "Entertainment" with the actual entertainment coming last.
