MSNBC Is Shocked, And Somewhat Offended, That Speaker Mike Johnson Puts God Before Her Government

God talk is SO foreign to MS NOW. Katy Tur: What about this passage from Mike Johnson declaring that our rights do not derive from government? They come from you, our creator and heavenly father. Is this him putting God over the Declaration of Independence?

On Monday, Speaker Mike Johnson spoke at Rededicate 250 about God’s providence over the past 250 years and “sought His blessing for the next 250.” This should not be controversial, especially considering anyone with a fraction of a brain should understand America was the first country founded on the idea that rights are inalienable. In fact, you only need to have read the Declaration of Independence once to understand this very simple, yet crucial concept. MSNBC, however, is confused, despite how clearly it is spelled out.
According to the Declaration of Independence, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” It is unclear how much clearer we have to be for MSNBC, but Katy Tur is flabbergasted as to how Johnson could believe rights do not derive from government and that they come from God. And the fact that she is shocked by this tells you how naive the people on MSNBC truly are.
Tur asked McKay Coppins if this means Johnson is putting God over the Declaration of Independence, as if that is some novel concept. Coppins cleared things up, as this is quite literally what it spelled out in our founding documents.
According to Coppins, “we have innate human rights that our constitution and our government, our democratic government, are meant to codify. That idea is not totally abnormal.” Not only is it not abnormal, but it is the premise on which this country was founded. Is Tur really that stupid?
What is even more shocking is not that she has not read the Declaration of Independence. This is unsurprising because naivety and arrogance are common traits of the left. The problem, however, is that she believes government comes before God. That is deranged, evil, and the antithesis of the founding of this country. The fact that she has a platform while failing to understand the most basic concept of our founding documents is a scandal in itself. Sadly, though, none of this is surprising, considering we are talking about MSNBC. So, what else is new?
