How many Black residents in Evanston, Illinois, do you think were slaves? If the answer is close to zero, why were 44 residents given $25,000 as a form of reparations? That is something the city would never be able to answer, but it won’t stop them from giving funds to people based on skin color, despite never being subject to forced labor in their lives.

Evanston has decided it would like to out-woke every city in America by issuing $25,000 to 44 residents as reparations. These will be given to Black residents and descendants of Black residents who lived in Evanston between 1919 and 1969.

It’s unclear why White residents who may also be descendants of a Black resident won’t also be afforded such benefits. Still, one can assume it’s because they don’t have the politically correct skin color to receive such funds.

According to the New York Post:

Evanston was the first city in the nation to pass a reparations plan, pledging $10 million over a decade to Black residents.

The payments are intended to cover housing expenses, Evanston official Cynthia Vargas told the Chicago Tribune.

According to a city memo, the fund had received $276,588 from Evanston’s real estate transfer tax. The committee discussed taxing Delta-8 THC products to sustain funding in the future.

The funds did not receive any philanthropic donations. This is probably because people don’t want to spend the fruits of their labor on people who don’t deserve it, solely because of their skin color. The fact that the city believes so many residents will willingly donate to this fund proves just how out of touch officials are. Not even Black residents seemed to have wanted to make a difference in this way, and that’s because this program is illogical, reprehensible, and very likely illegal. Last time I checked, there was this little thing called equality under the law. This would make one assume that giving people checks based on race would not be lawful. I am no legal expert, though, so take that statement with a grain of salt.

Ald. Krissie Harris recognized that the tax would not significantly increase revenue, though it would “help keep moving that number forward” in the reparations process.

“It’s really important for people to understand we pay as we have the money, and it’s not that we’re withholding from paying everyone,” Harris said, according to The Daily Northwestern. “It’s just we have to accumulate the funds to make sure we can pay.”

When they claim they are paying everyone, they don't actually mean everyone. They mean a fraction of the population at the expense of the majority. While many white people in the city could benefit from such a large check, the city could not care less. They are all in to apologize for things no one alive today did, and no one experienced. That is how illogical these people are, and it’s deeply deranged.

According to the left, this is compassion. However, according to morality, logic, and truth, it’s the antithesis of that.

It’s unclear how long this program will go on until federal authorities deem it racist and unconstitutional, but as of the writing of this, they seem to be getting away with it. This has no place in America, and it’s a slap in the face to all the hard-working men and women who are struggling to make ends meet.
