Watch: Dinesh D'Souza Reveals How The FBI And CIA Target The Right
In this special episode, we're joined by author, commentator & filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza. Hosted by Gerald A, the duo talked about D'Souza's new movie "Police State", Ron DeSantis Vs. Donald Trump, the 2024 election, and more.
D'Souza’s goal with his new documentary is to raise a big question about society and frame it in a fair and urgent way for people to see a story unfolding.
Although police states around the world do have elections, like in China, they typically only have a one-party state where they lock up effective leaders of the opposition party as well as political prisoners. People on the left even believe that is the case in America, they just have a different perspective as to who is behind it.
“The way I frame up this film is a little original. It is not just 'Are we becoming a police state?' But 'who is right?'” said D'Souza. He added, “We can answer that question if we know what a police state is, how it got started, how it’s organized, how it works, who is behind it, and who is in charge. If we know the answer to those questions, you will know where the threat is coming from.”
In any other country, if there was attention drawn to the fact that a leading opposition candidate was hit with 90 charges, the U.S. government would be calling that country a Banana Republic. But with Trump, there are charges that range all the way from the state level, to federal, and civil.
“This is police state thuggery as naked as it comes. I think it is because they do fear that Trump is the most dangerous opponent to the police state and I think it is because he is the least bound by political connection,” said D'Souza.
Gerald A questioned who would be the most viable option if Trump was not running to go after the “deep state.”
D'Souza said the two other options would be DeSantis and Vivek.
“You don’t just fight a police state by asking what the ordinary citizen can do. The ordinary citizen can do some things like become a poll watcher and an election observer. There are 10 things you can do but we also need institutions to act. The courts, the Republican House, [and] Republican Governors. States can do a lot,” said D'Souza.
Gerald A brought up that some people on the right dance on the line, otherwise known as a “grifter.” Or someone who just tries to make money off the movement.
“If you ask me today ‘Is America a free country?’ I believe no but I wouldn't want to say that. I would be embarrassed to say it. We are in this very awkward position and those of us who are Rah Rah American immigrants, have some obligation I think to give back to the country that has given us so much. That's what motivates me,” said D'Souza
D'Souza pointed out how the time is not unlimited because if the jaws of the police state snaps shut, then the only thing people can do is run.
"Your options become much more limited. If you ask me in one sentence why I made this movie, it's so we never get to that point. We have the time to block, thwart, and even roll back the police state. It is not going to be easy but we can do it and we have the obligation to do what we can while time remains,” said D'Souza.
