Fake News: CNN Reports "Fearless Girl" and a Bull Have Snow On Them
One must wonder how many rued days the media has suffered after coining the now meme-famous term "fake news." The crying heads at CNN alone have to be generating buckets of tears (see Remy Mocks CNN With ‘Fake News’ Parody and Chris Cuomo Actually Compares Being Called “Fake News” to the N-Word). And while biased reporting is part of "fake news," another part is what the network finds newsworthy. Like this.
EXTRA, EXTRA, read all about it, a statue has snow on it.
It's the "Fearless Girl" statue that State Street Global Advisors installed as a cheap publicity stunt for the Women's March. It's supposed to symbolize how they're going to hire more women in corporate positions. You know, as opposed to just hiring them.
But CNN thought it was newsworthy this brave girl stood her ground. Question: as an inanimate object made of not human components, where does Fearless Girl planning on skipping off to when the weather outside is frightful? SHE'S NOT REAL! NEITHER IS THE BULL!
I'm sure the person running CNN's Twitter account probably thought this was a brave symbol of something. A girl, standing in the snow, not a shiver to be had, her cold stone stare symbolic of feminine courage to all New Yorkers who pass her without looking. What must she ponder as she looks upon the bull? She could wrestle it with her girlish physical prowess, perhaps. After tackling the bull by the horns, perhaps she'd geld it, then slice and dice it for some good eats. Fashion a leather coat with its skin. Pin it to Pinterest for her womanly crew to adore. Alas, that little girl just stands there, resolute, doing nothing but stare ahead of her. Demanding people praise her for the bravery of BEING THERE without action. Yep, sounds like a feminist symbol to me!
I didn't plan on this being a long lecture about yet another thing some cheesy tourists are going to lean on for a selfie they're sure to pollute their 200+ not really Facebook friends' timelines with. But that's what you get around these here parts. Thanks, CNN.
All this for picture homeless people will make snow angels in front of any minute now.
So yeah, breaking from CNN. There is snow in New York City. And a statue is covered in it.
Now here's Not Gay Jared with sports...
