Based sheriff announces new policy, letting "teens" know what happens to their cars after "teen takeovers"

Teen takeovers are increasingly becoming a greater public safety threat. Some may argue the reason is that officials refuse to uphold the law and hold people accountable. This is why it is crucial to implement policies that instill fear in teens who think the law does not apply to them.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has come up with an idea they believe may decrease the instances of these crimes.
Sheriff Kevin McMahill and Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick held a press conference where two vehicles were demolished behind them: a 2009 Infiniti G37s and a 2007 Nissan 350z. They claim these vehicles were used for illegal street racing.
Per Fox 5:
According to Sheriff McMahill, the vehicles were used in illegal stunt driving activities. During the press conference, Deputy Chief Branden Clarkson shared that the driver of the Infiniti participated in a street takeover, drifting dangerously close to spectators and nearly colliding with several vehicles. The driver of the Nissan likewise engaged in repeat trick driving exhibitions, fled from law enforcement at excessive speeds and later altered the vehicle’s appearance to avoid apprehension.
Both drivers were arrested and their vehicles were impounded. Following legal proceedings, the vehicles were seized and forfeited pursuant to statutes enacted by lawmakers authorizing vehicle seizures and forfeitures.
The vehicle destructions mark the first use of a new law passed during the last legislative session.
Assemblywoman Linda Hunt sponsored the legislation, which allows law enforcement to confiscate vehicles used in street racing and destroy them if they cannot pass a safety inspection.
While it is great these cars are being taken away from these wannabe thugs, some would argue prison is also an option, especially when their actions endanger the lives of others.
Here is an example of these modern-day “teen takeovers."
🚨HOLY CRAP!!!
ANOTHER MASSIVE "teen-takeover" occurred in downtown Houston last night where over 500 "teens" SWARMED downtown...

While this was not in Las Vegas, you get the picture. With social media, it becomes incredibly easy for hundreds of teens to gather on a moment's notice, and not enough is being done to prevent these crimes. It is not until officials start holding people accountable that we will start seeing these instances decrease. Until then, this is the best the City of Las Vegas can do. It is unclear if this will do much to solve the issue, so draw your own conclusions.
