This story is breaking, therefore developing.
Yes. Thankfully, three people who were planning to kill Baton Rogue police officers were stopped. Mind you, this is on the heels of President Obama politicizing a tribute for five police officers who were assassinated last Friday.
See any similarities?
Police arrested three people Monday who they say plotted to kill Baton Rouge cops using guns stolen from a pawn shop, CBS News has learned.
Brief note on this: these criminals stole guns. Stole guns. No “gun show loophole” played a role here. They stole the guns. Sounds like a pretty criminal thing to do, yes? Okay, moving on…
The burglary at the pawn shop, which is in Baton Rouge, happened early Saturday morning, police say. CBS affiliate WAFB reports the suspects broke in through the roof. Five guns have been recovered, and two are still missing, the Louisiana State Police tell CBS News. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted police in the investigation, they said.
Louisiana State Police tell CBS News those in custody are 13, 17 and 20. One was arrested at the shop. Police are looking for another 20-year-old.
On Monday, a raid was conducted at a Baton Rouge home in connection to the case, WAFB reports.
One of the suspects allegedly told police that the planned attack was in response to the death of Alton Sterling, who was shot and killed by police on July 5.
If you want to keep pretending there’s not a war on cops, don’t. If you’re in the middle of opening your mouth to spew out some chant, don’t. If you’re madly typing at your keyboard that “Black lives matter” while preparing some joke comparing police officers to certain kinds of breakfast meat, don’t. Just stop it right now.
Cops are being targeted. They were targeted in Dallas. They were targeted in Baton Rouge. Fortunately they were stopped this time, but one is still at large. The media has, apparently, successfully portrayed cops as worthy targets for trigger-happy vigilantes who want to “avenge” the death of Alton Sterling. Even though the facts of that case? We’re still waiting for them.
Notice also the age of these suspects. As young as thirteen. A thirteen year old felt such hatred for cops, he was willing to become a murderer. At thirteen. Would it be racist of me to speculate as to his home situation? Is it racist of me to ask if he has both a mother and a father? Is it racist of me to ask if he’s ever been arrested before?
No it isn’t. Know why? Because we do not have the names of the suspects. We do not have their races. All we can say with some degree of certainty is the environment which has been created in regards to cops. Lemme make it simple: cops have been painted as racist killers. By the media. By some of our esteemed political figures. I use “esteemed” there satirically. Ergo, some young whipper snapping 13 year old kid thinks he’s justified in the killing of said racist killer. Ultimately yes, the shooter, the killer, is always responsible. But these three kids? If we were to ask them about it, they would likely tell you they feel justified.
Because when you paint people as little more than animals, when you devalue their humanity, when you paint all of them with a broad brush of racism, it becomes that much easier for people to see them differently. As less than human. So the constant maligning of cops, constantly demonizing them as pigs, as racist killers out to target black Americans, makes them less that human in the eyes of an angry killer. In this case, a possible teenage killer.
So when your leftist friend tells you not to blame #BlackLivesMatter and that facts are racist? This is what happens when you ignore facts.
