Liberal Braintrust Says To Stop Blaming Inflation. Instead, Blame High Prices (hey, wait a second...)
Inflation recently hit 40-year highs. Average Americans are struggling to cope as Washington continues to sink the economy. Biden even claimed last year that our economy has gone from being “on the mend to on the move.”
Most Americans are feeling the pressure of the economy and a recent Gallup poll shows that just 20% of Americans think the economy is good, while the poor rating is up from 42% and is the highest Gallup has seen in a year.
So what is really going on with the economy?
Well, according to Vox, it’s definitely not inflation.
Vox senior correspondent Emily Stewart published an article trying to downplay the damage from inflation by saying high prices are the problem.
“Did Diet Coke always cost that much? Or eggs? Maybe you’ve been putting off buying that new car in the hope prices go back to where they were pre-pandemic, but you’re starting to feel like the wait is awfully long,” Stewart wrote.
We definitely did not need this Vox article to tell Americans their wallet is hurting as they are reminded every time they eat that the cost of food just keeps increasing day after day.
But what’s causing the price of basic goods like grocery items to skyrocket? According to Stewart, inflation just is not “really the issue anymore” and the “actual problem here is prices.”
She says that "higher prices might just be the sort of thing we’ve all got to get used to" and that "episodes where prices actually fall can be really, really damaging to an economy.”
Well, they do say free advice is worth every penny.
“Many parts of the economy aren’t competitive in a way that would force companies to price down, and it’s not clear how much corporate greed is at the heart of the issue anyway,” the article read.
Of course, we had to throw some “corporate greed” in there. Would not be complete without it.
“Sooner or later, sticker shock will feel a little less shocking,” the article concludes.
Basically, she should have just said “Spare no expense to save money on this one.”
Obviously, prices don’t really tend to jump back down for most things. That’s not how the real world works.
But the article’s entire premise was an oxymoron.
Contrary to what many leftists claim, high prices had nothing to do with the invisible enemy known as COVID-19 but everything to do with Washington’s response. This is part of the reason Biden pretended like inflation was not happening for over a year.
In June of 2021, Biden said no serious economist thinks unchecked inflation is coming and argued that another giant spending bill was the right response to concerns about inflation.
First, under the promise of defeating the invisible enemy, COVID lockdowns were imposed against our will. This subsequently destroyed the supply of goods without even doing what was promised.
Second, policymakers and the Biden Administration refuse to hand over the spending power COVID gave them and keep passing out trillion-dollar omnibus spending bills like candy.
Subsequently, it's very clear that this administration cannot seem to satisfy its appetite for spending and more regulation
High prices are not a result of high prices, but rather a direct result of dysfunctional policies.
Bidenomics is just one of the latest catchphrases. Funny how the Vox article does not mention that once.
Vox really tried to gaslight Americans that all this is invertible, and on top of that, has nothing to do with Biden’s economic policies even though they literally revolve around government spending.
But here is the reality: Most people do not like how Biden has handled inflation as proven by his measly 34% approval rating on the economy.
Vox can try and gaslight Americans about the economy all they want. But facts speak louder than words. In reality, the average American is struggling under Bidenomics no matter how many times liberal pundits act like Biden’s policies do everything BUT cause inflation.
Clearly, stupidity has no limits.
