Therapists Now Deal with Patient Anxiety Stemming from Global Warming
Therapists deal with all sorts of neuroses on the regular. Which is a nice way of saying they hear a lot of crazy sh!t. People who need to knock on the wall three times before going through a doorway. People substituting a clear lack of personality with third gender option. People who claim their dog is telling them to support Kirsten Gillibrand. And lately, people who are freaking out over global climate warming change.
Climate change and the uncertainty surrounding it is hardly just entertainment fodder...
Disagree, but please continue.
it’s a reality that’s taking a toll on people’s mental health. As global warming continues to trend, therapists are starting to have clients trickle into their offices expressing a multitude of fears on the subject.“Worry about environmental problems can cause anxiety and depression,” said Josef Ruzek, a psychologist at Palo Alto University, adding that therapists have an increasing need to help their patients “challenge feelings of helplessness, engage in constructive self-talk and build a personal sense of resilience and optimism” in order to deal with fears that may be disrupting day-to-day life.
Can't imagine why (see WATCH: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Like, Knows When Climate Change will Kill Us All and California Governor Compares Fighting Climate Change to Fighting Nazis).
Here's some consensus for you: climate change alarmists are responsible for 97% of the toxic air seeping into our atmosphere. All coming from their face holes.
I agree with therapists that turning off the TV helps. Even if it's just once in a while. That can be said of most anxiety. But in the case of climate change, turn off the TV and maybe get your news from someplace other than the Huffington Post. Or videos where John Oliver "owns" someone. It's not anti-science to question the political agenda of people who want you in a panic, with the goal if ceding more of your personal choice and power to the almighty government.
Getting some fresh air helps too. At least while we still have it.
