Oh no, you guys... Tucker Carlson might get SANCTIONED by the EU for his Putin interview
In the European Union, they don’t respect the press. That is because officials believe the government should be the judge of truth. They believe the general public is too stupid to confirm what is factual and what is “misinformation”. But as history has shown us, no one who cares about “truth” would hide it.
According to Newsweek, Tucker Carlson may face sanctions over his interview with Putin.
We all know that this is newsworthy and that you don’t have to agree with anything Putin says or does to interview him. The fact that people are so mad about this is what makes people want to tune in even more. If the last thing you want is for people to watch the interview, then this is the last thing you should be doing.
Tucker Carlson's interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin could see the conservative pundit targeted by European Union lawmakers, current and former members of the European Parliament have told Newsweek.
Carlson visited Russia this week, and on Tuesday revealed he would "soon" be releasing an interview with the Russian leader.
Carlson's work in Russia could see the former Fox News host in hot water with the EU, Guy Verhofstadt, a former Belgian Prime Minister and current member of the European Parliament, told Newsweek.
The lawmaker—who has called for the EU to explore imposing a "travel ban" on Carlson—described Carlson as "a mouthpiece" of former President Donald Trump and Putin, adding: "As Putin is a war criminal and the EU sanctions all who assist him in that effort, it seems logical that the External Action Service examine his case as well."
None of that quote makes any sense. But this is exactly why so many people look to America as the beacon of freedom and not the European Union. And I love how this suddenly became about Donald Trump.
Explaining his motive for the interview, Carlson said in a video statement on Tuesday: "Most Americans have no idea why Putin invaded Ukraine or what his goals are now."
"We are not here because we love Vladimir Putin....We are not encouraging you to agree with what Putin may say in this interview, but we are urging you to watch it. You should know as much as you can."
I agree. More information is always better.
Word of advice to the EU: Don’t start “sanctioning” journalists you don’t agree with if you want to discredit someone. Because silencing your opponent is not something the winning side does in debate. So this does nothing to help whatever cause this attempt is.
If you care about truth, the last thing you would do is try to silence people out of debate and discourse. But clearly, the EU does not care about little things like “freedom of thought”.
That said, I don't think threats like this will do much of anything to stop Tucker from interviewing Putin.
