Watch: Israel's 'John Oliver' blasts the real John Oliver's antisemitic comments over Israel-Palestine conflict
2021 vs 2023. While I was working on the site over the weekend, I was reminded of this Tom Aharon clip. He's referred to as "Israel's John Oliver." Aharon had responded to Oliver's HBO show on 2021's conflict where -- spoiler -- the British "comedian" blamed Israel with similar talking points you're hearing now.
2021's Israel-Palestine War saw a more humane side of Hamas. Instead of raping, murdering, beheading, mutilating, and kidnapping women and children, they just indiscriminately fired rockets. It encouraged copycats in New York City, where Jews were assaulted with explosive devices. Critics called it the "AOC Effect" referencing social media influencer Rep. AOC's antisemitic comments after Hamas' attack and before the NYC attack. Not to be confused with her 2023 antisemitic comments where she FARTED while accusing Israel of ethnic cleansing.
Hamas attacked. Both sides were told to "show restraint." Israel responded. The international community turned on Israel. It's paint-by-numbers progressivism, so of course it was a paint-by-numbers Oliver rant that Tom Aharon took exception to.
"Let me get this straight. Hamas fired over a thousand missiles AT CIVILIANS, but they don't count because we stopped them in midair? That doesn't make any sense," the comedian shared. "I too think that taking down civilian buildings is an extreme measure and should only be used as a last resort, which is pretty f*cking hard considering how deeply rooted Hamas is in everyday Palestinian lives in Gaza."
That was 2021. The fact that Hamas sympathizers are using the same talking points to excuse them raping, murdering, beheading, mutilating, and kidnapping women and children in 2023 led to a different monologue.
"The past week had me going crazy over terrorists, doing literally the worst things you could do to another human being while others, including members of the US Congress, are trying to put it in some context."
I think you know who he's talking about:
The comedian continued, "You know what Hamas did. You have seen the videos they have shot. You know that nothing -- NOTHING -- could justify it. No matter how bad you believe Israel is treating the Palestinians, nothing could ever justify these types of acts.
The tired old bars about "restraint" and ceasefire" aren't going to work this time.
