This is not the first time a child brought a loaded firearm to daycare. While most common-sense folks would assume it is not rocket science to lock your firearms up, especially when loaded AND ESPECIALLY when you have young children in the house, clearly not everyone has an IQ higher than a goldfish.
A 3-year-old reached into a backpack at daycare and pulled out a loaded gun.
It happened Monday morning in Canton, Michigan. The gun was still holstered, nobody got hurt, and staff flagged it before police took it. One parent ended up in custody, and the other is a cop with a… pic.twitter.com/zhNmm3QKsU

Two parents have been arraigned after a three-year-old brought a loaded handgun to daycare, and right now there are more questions than answers.
A toddler pulled out a loaded pistol Monday at a daycare in southeast Michigan and a police officer who is one of the child’s parents has been taken into custody as the investigation continues, officials said.

Per Fox 2:
Rabab Al Zayad and Brandon Ely were arraigned on charges in connection to their 3-year-old son bringing the loaded gun to daycare in his backpack Monday morning.
Investigators say the defendants' son found and removed a holstered handgun from his backpack while in his classroom at Children's World Early Learning Center on Sheldon Road.
One of the defendants is, surprisingly, a veteran at the Detroit Police Department. Unsure how one of his secured firearms became unsecured, but I digress.
Again, this is not the first time something like this has happened. In 2024, a mom was arrested after daycare workers found a loaded firearm in the child’s lunchbox.
Per ABC 7:
According to the Riviera Beach Police Department, Shanae Davis told investigators that she normally keeps the gun in her glove box but, lately, her apartment complex has seen several break-ins, so she’s been taking the gun inside. On Thursday, the 39-year-old mother placed the gun inside her son’s lunchbox because she doesn’t carry a purse, she continued, adding that she forgot to take it out,
Let’s just hope this is the last time something like this happens. Two incidents in two years is far too much.
