Teen Gives Elderly Man His Shoes With No One Watching, And The Interaction Went Viral

Sometimes you just need to take a break from the negative news stream to focus on the good stories. This is one of those stories.
A young man, Jordan Hope, saw an older man struggling to get by. Hope noticed the man’s shoes were falling apart and did not think twice before taking his own shoes off to give to the elderly man. Little did he know, the whole thing was filmed by a stranger and has since gone viral.
18-year-old Arizona teen gives an elderly man his shoes after noticing the man's shoes were barely hanging on his feet.Jordan Hope says he felt that God was telling him to approach the man. "I looked at his feet and his shoes were like maybe a fourth on his foot," Hope said."I just felt like God told me to go over there, turn around and just give him some new slides. So I took off my own shoes. I gave them to him, and I just felt like I brought maybe a peace in his life."Little did Hope know, a stranger was watching the entire encounter and shared the footage online.After giving the man, Mr. Roy, his shoes and leaving, something told Hope to turn back.Hope found Mr. Roy in Walgreens and found out his wife had died two weeks earlier."I just think he needed a friend... It’s hard asking for help sometimes. And I’m just glad that God brought me there in that moment to just show my light on other people."Hope ordered the man a rideshare because he had a hard time getting into his own car due to a leg swelling condition, and they met at Culver's for lunch."I knew a tug pulled on my heart, and it was definitely from God... He interrupted my plans for that day to carry on His plans," Hope said.Hope says he now talks to Mr. Roy daily. The young man has started a GoFundMe for the elderly man. I will link it below.

The most genuine part about this is that he did it without realizing anyone was watching. There are countless Bible verses on helping others without recognition. This is a good lesson for everyone.
According to Fox 10:
Bystander Yareli Madrid witnessed the encounter and shared a post on social media. She said that watching the young man take the shoes off his feet "truly touched my heart," adding that "he did it without anyone watching,without cameras, without expecting recognition or praise." Hope had no idea his good deed was being observed.
As the two talked, Hope learned that Mister Roy was grieving the recent loss of his wife and trying to navigate his hardships alone. The teenager immediately stepped in to offer ongoing support.
To help keep Mister Roy on his feet financially, Hope launched an online GoFundMe campaign that has already raised over $15,000.
Hope has since reminded people to be generous and appreciate what they have, noting, “It's not that hard to be nice to people, and you never know what they're going through. Just spread the love of God," according to the outlet. This is an important message in a day when society is easily polarized.
As of writing this, nearly $20,000 has been raised for Mr. Roy.
