SNL alum calls for Shane Gillis to be talked down to "like a little kid" if he's ever invited back on the show

Apparently the left and the media (but I repeat myself) are still in their fee fees about Shane Gillis being allowed to make a joke on what used to be a comedy show. It will continue until at least this weekend, when I'm sure host Dakota Johnson will be written a one-liner to elicit the appropriate amount of clapter from the appropriate audience. Until then, we still have show alumni like Kennan Thompson - who, for some reason, doesn't think he looks like a douche wearing sunglasses indoors - lashing out about it.
Here's the source material people can't calm down about. Blink, and you'll miss the word "whores."

Thomson was called to answer for Gillis by Sara Fischer, a journalismer for Axios, and said he's going to make sure Shane gets a speaking to if he's ever invited back.
#SNL alum Dana Carvey "didn't understand the kerfuffle" over Shane Gillis' monologue. "I just saw it as what we call — I’ll just say it — a joke," Carvey said. “Like, when you say jokes, you’re not literally saying women are whores. You are literally joking. Isn’t that kind of the idea? No? Did I just get canceled?” https://t.co/W3cE4Lr5je

Whoops, wrong tweet.
That's Saturday Night Live alum Dana Carvey saying he still understands what comedy is. Same with his podcast co-host, another Saturday Night Live alum, David Spade. It's important to compare and contrast "Saturday Night Live" with "SNL."
Thompson, an SNL alum, wants Gillis talked down to like a child.
If Shane Gillis were to come back to SNL, “I’m sure we would have a conversation … like a little kid” about what he could have done differently, @nbcsnl cast member @KenanThompson tells @sarafischer at #MediaTrendsLive. https://t.co/Y6wFcpC9dH

Elsewhere in the interview, Thompson continued with the struggle session about how comedians need to realize it's a more scrutinized time, and they need to get with the program.
I don’t think jokes are necessarily harmless just because they’re jokes and you didn’t intend it to be a certain kind of way. I think you need to educate yourself on how things might impact people.

Here's the thing. Setting aside the fact that Gillis has sold out more stadiums performing comedy than I have, as someone who consumes comedy and decides whether I personally believe something is funny, I thought the bit about women dressing like whores in the gym was lazy and a hack. Then I moved on with my life.
But in my defense, I also process content and information like a normal person. I saw the clip. I said "Meh." I put my phone down and got ready to watch football.
What makes the joke hilarious is that four days later people are still whining and carrying on about it. Women are "owning" Shane by shooting TikToks dressed like whores. Anyone who ever worked on SNL is being dragged on the media and called upon to answer for it.
Seriously. It's funnier than anything else that happened on the show last weekend. I'm assuming. Like most people, I forget the show is on unless the media decides something on it needs to be a part of our discourse the next day.
If nothing else, the entire brouhaha reminded me that I still need to watch the new season of Tires. If that was all Shane Gillis sought out to do, it worked.
