Watch: Man Arrested After Being Caught 'Sleeping' Store Ceiling
Employees at a dairy store in Oklahoma stumbled upon an unusual surprise when they discovered an unexpected guest napping in the ceiling, according to VladTV.
Typically, you would only expect a rodent or some roaches to be up on the ceiling. But that is not what happened in Norman last month.
I also heard that Braum's has very good ice cream. And that it is so good, some people camp and wait for store to open. At least that is what seems to have occurred at this one location.
According to police body cam footage, a 41-year-old man named Philip Hickman was caught snoozing in Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Store.

Employees called the police around 6 a.m. to report a possible robbery after the camera system had been damaged and tiles had fallen from the ceiling.
Upon arrival, Police discovered the squatter inside the building.
“Got some dummy up in the ceiling,” Officer Deatheridge can be heard saying in the footage. “Man, I don’t know how he’s laying up there like that.”
According to Sarah Schettler, the Public Information Officer for the police department, Hickman accessed the ceiling sometime between the store closing at midnight and the employee's arrival.
"[The workers] had arrived at the restaurant to open it that morning, and there were ceiling tiles across the floor that had been broken. They could tell the individual crawled some distance across the store which is what caused that pretty significant damage to the ceiling and really just fortunate they didn't fall through the ceiling. Pretty significant damage. I think that to the store at quite a bit of cost, there were a lot of wires that were pulled and things that were in disarray in the ceiling area," Schettler said.
Police believe the man caused about $1,000 worth of damage.
Firefighters used a ladder to get access to the man in the ceiling as he pretended to nap to avoid being arrested.
“The guy is laying in the rafters, we can’t get him to move or do anything. We had no idea how to get him down,” one emergency responder said at the time, according to the New York Post.
Hickman was covered in dust and shirtless after coming down the ladder wearing just jeans and a hat. The man pretty much stayed quiet throughout the ordeal. But he did give his personal information to authorities before being escorted out of the store, according to The Post.
Police are still investigating the incident but it was believed the man just wanted to take a nap as police say he was not under the influence of any drugs or alcohol and he did not steal anything. However, he did tell officers he had no clue how he got there.
So I guess convenience stores are not as convenient as we thought.
But unfortunately for the man in the ceiling, he is probably a United States citizen. Had he been an illegal alien, officials would have given him a hotel room with a bed.
Obviously, no one should be given free stuff if they are capable of working. And I do not know what this man's situation is. But the fact that we are spending so much money on people that are not citizens, while we have people sleeping in ceilings, says a lot about this country’s priorities.
Does he need rehab? Does he have some mental disability? I do not know. But it would make a lot more sense to spend “extra” funding on helping Americans rather than Ukrainian clothing companies or putting an illegal alien in a luxury hotel.
The man really does get an A for effort though. As far as squatting situations go, this should get the most respect in regard to his ingenuity. As long as he learns his lesson and pays back the store, I think we can let this one go.
