This is the official choir of the New York City chapter of Democratic Socialists of America. They have ripped off the song "When the Saints Go Marching In" with lyrics about "when there is no NYPD."
Ironically, as the original poster mentioned, the entire crowd appears to be privileged white Liberals, many of them women. According to NeighborhoodScout, NYC is “Safer than 3% of U.S. cities.” This is what makes it bizarre, yet also dangerous, for them to be demanding the city defund one of the only deterrents to crime. But remember, this is the same ideology that believes a hug will stop crime.
Leftists often spout nonsense to promote asinine initiatives, such as “getting to the root cause of crime.” The problem with this is that the cause of crime is not something leftists need to uncover. In fact, I would argue that a lack of proactive policing and a system that is soft on prosecution actually increases the crime rate. However, I am no criminal justice expert, so you can draw your own conclusions. Nonetheless, someone should remind these liberals that crime victim data shows that minorities are more likely to be the victims of a violent crime. This means that by defunding the police, you hurt the Black community the most. The privilege is painfully obvious with this DSA choir.
It is not rocket science: less police equals more crime. The clown show is comical at this point.
