Columbia University seems to be a petri dish for leftist nonsense, such as Mattress Girl and claiming Greek mythology is too intense for the fragile, college mind. Now these future, great American thinkers want full control of the curriculum, because obviously.
The faculty was willing to play along, but claims that, “at no point did [we] consider trigger warnings as being something that could be productively or intellectually mandated, or made structural.” In response, students throw together words to form sentences that don’t make much sense, but look like this:
“Some people would prefer not to be blindsided by reminders of traumatic experiences,” said Charlotte Bullard Davies, a rising senior studying political science.
But students said the school is prioritizing an outdated, Eurocentric selection despite Columbia’s diverse student body, mandating works with overtones of racism and sexism and teaching them uncritically
“A university that uncritically accepts rape in its foundational literature class, without any thoughtful discussion…must question its ability to firmly reject rape on campus,” the students wrote.
Our best and brightest, folks. Actually, that’s probably triggering because what about people who aren’t “best” or “bright?”
These people are going to be building our planes. Holy cowabungin’ turtle-crap!
Exit quotation: “So the answer is what? To pluck respected and important books, seemingly at random? In what way does that not threaten ‘intellectual freedom?'”
