Climate Activists Block Traffic Into Burning Man Until Police Ram Through in Hilarious Fashion: “We’re not violent”
Anti-capitalist climate protestors blocked cars into Burning Man on Sunday, causing traffic chaos and a miles-long standstill before rangers arrested them for “trespassing on tribal land.”
Several activists from the group Seven Circles stood in the middle of the road used to enter the venue while others chained themselves to a trailer. Protesters surrounded themselves with banners that said “Burners of the World, Unite!,” “Abolish Capitalism” and “General Strike for Climate.”
The hilarious video footage showed rangers from the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal Police Department of Nevada plow through the blockade and quickly begin arresting individuals.
"Thirty seconds, send your leader to my vehicle, let's talk, get off the f****** road," a Ranger warned the activists before arresting the activists at gunpoint.
One protester can even be heard screaming “We’re not violent,” before a ranger instructs the group to “get down, on the ground now.”
Although one of Burning Man’s main principles is ‘Decommodification,’ they are evidently not woke enough for this group.
“The blockade's purpose is to draw attention to capitalism's inability to address climate and ecological breakdown along with protesting against the popularization of Burning Man among affluent people who do not live the stated values of Burning Man, resulting in the commodification of the event,” according to Tommy Diacono, a Maltese activist arrested at the protest.
I just want to know if Diacono took a plane to get to Burning Man.
