Here's Why this Touching Photo of an Israeli Soldier is Going Viral...
There's a Facebook page called Humans of Jerusalem (like Humans of New York), where a photographer takes picture of...well, humans of Jerusalem. They recently posted this picture of an Israeli soldier that has caught a lot of people's attention.
“I was finishing my pie, and I saw him there,” Jessel said. “I came over and said, ‘I love everything going on over here. Can I please take a picture of you?’ He said, ‘Sure!’”Jessel said that the redheaded soldier, whom he identified only as Nathan, was holding the baby while his wife had stepped away for a bit. The baby girl is named Gal Einai, which translates loosely to “open my eyes” or “reveal to my eyes.”
Nathan is currently serving in the Israel Defense Forces with a religious battalion called “Netzach Yehuda” which means “Eternity of Judah.”
Outside of his military service, he enjoys playing guitar — as indicated by the guitar case visible in the photo.
It's a beautiful picture, especially when you consider the borderline slanderous reporting about Israel that usually finds its way in the press. Example, the leftist response to this story of Israelis helping Palestinians.
Then of course we have the comparisons to his "colleagues" on the other side of the metaphorical isle. Their family photos are a bit different and comprise of toddlers being trained to kill. As their children grow older, they're taught to kill Jews, either with guns, blades, or the ever-so-reliable suicide bomb. The Palestinian family that stays together, blows up the Jews.
So if you think a father holding his baby and holding a gun is dichotomous, think again. He holds in his hand the future, which he protects with his gun. Protecting his girl and his nation with a weapon from the people who seek to wipe him and anyone like him from the face of the earth. Using their own children if necessary.
That's the dichotomy. Israeli parents protect their children with their lives and their weapons. Islamic parents teach their children how to kill the jews with whatever weapons are available to them, even if it means losing their head via a suicide vest. Remember that the next time you feel a rush of what you believe is vindictive justice coursing through you're bleeding heart veins when you see a "Free Palestine" bumper sticker.
Now I know that many of you may not be up to snuff on the history of Israel, so watch the video below and learn.
